Position Description
The Reserving Manager is responsible for developing a robust pricing peer review process as well as playing a major role in the reserving function at Ally Insurance. The Manager is the primary point of contract for independent risk management related to the peer review of all pricing activities. The Manager will also have responsibilities relating to loss reserve and/or unearned premium reserve testing, data analytics, continuous process improvement and associate development. The Manager will be responsible for communicating and working collaboratively across multiple departments throughout the organization.
Job Responsibilities
• Develop a robust pricing peer review process and be main contact for independent risk management of same
• Develop loss reserve and/or unearned premium reserve indications and communicate them to senior leadership
• Perform reinsurance commutation analysis
• Work collaboratively as a part of the business planning process
• Develop and communicate business analytics to senior leadership
• Fosters innovation within the team and across the broader organization
• Supervise direct report(s)
• Support development of associates in an actuarial capacity and according to Ally vision and mission statement
Qualifications
• Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society
• Member of the American Academy of Actuaries
• Experience in both pricing and reserving roles; including advanced ratemaking and reserving techniques (i.e. GLM, stochastic reserving methodologies, etc.)
• Strong communication and relationship building skills
• Ability to adapt to change quickly and to easily adjust priorities as necessary and appropriate
• Demonstrated leadership ability
• High level of problem solving and critical thinking capabilities
• Well-organized and detail-oriented
• 5+ years of responsible actuarial experience
• Strong work ethic
• Minimum of Bachelor's degree in risk management, finance, economics, actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related field
• Programming skills a plus
• Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis
