The Head of Workers’ Compensation Claims will report to the Head of Claims North America (NA). This role will be responsible for bringing value to the Workers’ Compensation book of business by providing claim support and intelligence for the Casualty Underwriting teams. The incumbent will use their expertise to enhance the client experience, resolve claim issues for clients, and provide support to underwriting and distribution to drive and retain business.

• Strategic leadership of multiple Workers’ Compensation technical claims teams and Medical Management Services within the US; ensuring the appropriateness of claims payments, adequate reserving, and reduction of claim costs.
• Responsible for ensuring the understanding and administration of claim policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with company policy and standards for all technical claims teams within the US; resulting in appropriate handling of claim file reserving, claims payments, legal/allocated expenses, and recoveries.
• Develop, position, market, and deliver superior claims services and capabilities in a manner that effectively leverages AIG’s strengths as a competitive differential in the marketplace.
• Drive strategic support and value by managing the cost of claims through improved claims handling processes, data usage, innovation, and technology solutions. Accountable for all KPIs, metrics, and review processes.
• Develop and execute a strategy to enhance Medical Management Services to ensure the best available claim outcomes.
• Work closely with Recovery Services to ensure that capabilities are effectively executed in Workers’ Compensation.
• Establish strong and collaborative relationships with the GI Claims leadership team and the Worker’s Compensation Underwriting leadership team; create mutual understanding of overall parameters and goals to drive effective execution of business model.
• Responsible for reporting on claims intelligence and analytics and sharing relevant insights with the Workers’ Compensation and Casualty Underwriting leadership teams. Report back to the GI Claims Leadership Team on large losses and coverage disputes.
• Partner with Underwriting, Actuarial, Marketing, and Shared Services stakeholders on relevant projects, quarterly and annual profitability, and reserving reviews.
• Apprise the Workers’ Compensation Underwriting leadership teams of changes and trends in the legal, regulatory, and claims environment; evaluate any impact to AIG.
• Represent AIG as the Claims lead for Workers’ Compensation with brokers and clients during the claim issue resolution process.
• Establish an effective litigation strategy in partnership with General Counsel.
• Represent the claims capability, for the Workers’ Compensation organization, to regulators, rating agencies, and current and prospective business partners.
• Develop tools and strategies, in collaboration with HR, to attract and retain top industry talent and develop high performing teams.
• Drive a culture that promotes collaboration, diversity and inclusion.
• Ensure a reputation of Claims excellence in the marketplace.
