Summary:
Conduct big data analytics and build solutions with large data sets for complex and varied business problems under management guidance. Contribute to the analytical and code design for problem solution. Work with business stakeholders at all levels to identify problem statement and challenges with insight. Work objectively to deliver value through analytics. Deliver on multiple components of solutions leveraging technical expertise. Autonomously execute code to generate business results, code efficiency improves solution delivery.
Analyze and prepare data for analysis, assembling data from standard and disparate data sources
Evaluate the work of peer and junior data scientists to ensure governance and high quality solutions. Communicate results to management and identify strengths and weakness of analytics utilized.
Job Description:
• As a Data Scientist, you will be leveraging our big data environment to create and apply advanced machine learning and statistical techniques. The Data Scientist is essential to ensuring our continued commitment to provide quality insight to our internal stakeholders. The Data Scientist position is responsible for paving the way of the future when it comes to analytics and data management corporation wide.
• As part of the team you will be a key player in the development of new models and solutions on a wide assortment of domain for multiple functions across the enterprise, including, Finance, Operations, HR, Marketing, Technology, etc. You will be accountable for using multiple data sources towards building value add and actionable insight for Equifax functions to make data driven decisions.
• Rapid product development and stakeholder focused Beta development, including batch services, predictive models and insight tools
• Maturing our Hadoop-based infrastructure as a platform for analytics and batch processing
• Assessing and adopting new analytical tools within the Hadoop ecosystem
• Supporting analytics users throughout the organization
• Communicating with and providing business stakeholder management at all levels
• A thought leader in data science and prescriptive analytics
Required Skills of the Data Scientist:
• A natural coder, with expert proficiency in SQL and at least one of the following languages: Python, R or Scala
• Broad knowledge of analytics, database design and predictive modelling
• Experience with creating analytics on internal data sets of a financial services organization (Billing, CRM, ERP, etc)
• Experience with propensity modelling, classifiers and segmentation
• Structuring data for rapid analytics and batch processing
• Experienced working with large volumes of data
• Capable of managing a varied workload with differing priorities and from multi-stakeholder groups
• Is able to conduct story boarding sessions and document use cases with business stakeholders
Experience with Data Visualization tools
• Deep experience with any of the following; Hadoop, Spark and Hive/Impala
• Have to be able to travel once a quarter internationally
Preferred Skills of the Data Scientist:
• Experience working with Java
• Experience working with Python
Education:
• Bachelors Degree (Advanced Degree preferred) in Statistics, Math, Operations Research, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Econometrics or other related quantitative discipline.
