Ameritas Life Insurance Corp is seeking a Director, Group Business Systems to drive the business by leading the delivery of IT solutions to the Group Division and its customers. The role of this position is to translate business needs into IT systems demands, and work with the IT organization to deliver value to the business.
Essential Functions:
• Manage the prioritization process for Business System(s) assigned, including the creation and modification of (quarterly) plans for business systems development. Develop plans for the design, deployment and maintenance of Group Business Systems assigned.
• Lead and manage Group Business Systems associates to develop and manage Group business systems project plans. Partner with key business stakeholders (i.e., officers, key managers and associates) within the Group Division, Corporate Services and other Line of Business. Manage assigned departmental budget.
• Proactively seeks opportunities for leveraging system capabilities within the Group Division in coordination with the Group Division Business Systems associates, the Vice President-Group Information Systems Officer, and all other Group Division officers and key managers.
• Ensure customer service standards are established and met.
• Manage external vendor and IT Partner relationships to ensure business systems are delivered on time, as promised.
• Contribute to the infrastructure planning and execution efforts of IT.
Marginal Functions:
• Actively participate in the operational and strategic planning for the Group Division. Keep abreast of Group Division business strategies, tactics and plans to ensure systems are in place to meet evolving opportunities. Also, keep abreast of new technology applications and their applicability to Group Division processes.
• Participate in evaluating and making recommendations for the development, enhancements and/or implementation of assigned Group business systems.
• Investigate and recommend software solutions to a business need and participate in the implementation and testing of the software packages.
• Manage specific major projects as assigned.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President -- Group Information Systems Officer, or the President -- Group Division.
Required Knowledge:
• Must have knowledge of IT and its appropriate business valueadded capabilities to complement and enable the strategic goals of the Group Division, with specific emphasis the delivery of business systems outcomes
• Must have an excellent knowledge of IT methodologies including life cycle management, business systems design principles, and quality assurance processes.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
• The position requires a college degree and 15+ years of experience in a business systems environment, IT or other technical role.
• 7-10 years of experience supervising and managing associates in a technical field such as IT or engineering.
