Description
Summary of Role
Responsible for overseeing our App content authoring/development team and working under the Agile methodology. Ensure that the development team is productive and focused in support of the Agile development process. Guide the team on how to get the most out of self-organization, and on removing impediments.
Devote 75% of her/his time to support of the App Development Team, and 25% of her/his time to support of the CPA.com test automation team. Role will also support the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• Responsible for the planning and facilitation of all standard ceremonies and activities including: backlog preparation, sprint planning, release planning, milestones and release alignment, retrospectives, sprint reviews and daily stand-ups
• Engages and assists the Product Owner to ensure that work requests are properly articulated, prioritized and detailed
• Engages with business entities as needed to help remove obstacles to his or her teams being able to deliver on stated goals, and helps to negotiate working agreements
• Works with 3rd party vendors and in-house developers, business/technical analysts, and testing resources to deliver key objectives of assigned projects
• Manages external dependencies that will impact the scrum team - across other project teams, external software development teams, 3rd party software, etc.
• Mentors and coaches a cross functional scrum team to build a highly effective and high performing team
• Provides training to new team members regarding the overall agile process and the Scrum framework, identifies additional training needs of team and individual members
• Dedicated to continuous process improvement through feedback loops, coaching, retrospectives, and individual improvement
• Regularly analyzes key metrics impacting the velocity/performance of the team and produces and shares status reports that highlight any issues/blockers
• Drives our transformation strategy and holds team accountable to the vision
• Facilitates team for better creativity and tries to improve the efficiency of the development team
• Protects the team from external and internal distractions
• Remove impediments so the team can focus on the work at hand and follow scrum practices
Supervisory Responsibilities
• DAS content authoring/development team members are accountable, but do not report directly, to this position.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
• Strong knowledge of Scrum theory, rules and practices
• Understands incremental development fundamentals
• Proven leadership skills
• Strong skills and knowledge of situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
• Ability to take on and understand commitment to deliver the product on time
• Ability to keep the team focused on sprint tasks, remove impediments and enable the team to meet delivery goals
• Ability to drive project related risks and issues to resolution, and to drive desired outcomes
• Effective problem solver, critical thinker, and collaborator
• Proven decision-maker and facilitator
• Excellent communication, mentoring and interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams

Required Experience, Qualifications & Education
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experience including:
◦ Experience working with Agile/Scrum and/or other iterative software development processes
◦ 4+ years of Scrum Master and Agile project management experience, including proficiency as Scrum Master role for 2+ years for a software development team, and 2+ years experience in using TFS, JIRA, Rally or equivalent ALM tools
• Experience working with web-based, Cloud-hosted software
Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Education
• CPA and/or MBA
• Experience at a public accounting firm
• Experience in software project management
