The Investment Intern conducts research into investment ideas and strategies to develop understanding Shelter Fixed Income portfolios, and associated research and evaluation tools, in order to provide assistance and analysis to support Fixed Income functions. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation.
This position is Full Time during the summer and Part Time (10-15 hours/week) during the school year.

Essential Duties
• Creates Trade Tickets for purchases and sales.
• Performs due diligence on all transactions .
• Assists in production of Investment Committee presentations as well as quarterly, and year-end regulatory filings.
• Responsible for updating Monthly Attribution & Returns Database.
• Monitors and reports on all major events of current holdings.
• Works with Treasury Portfolio Manager with semi-annual CORE risk testing.
• Cross-trains with Fixed Income Intern to become familiar with portfolios.
• Develops investment expertise by completing Bloomberg Online Training Program, and reading economic research and individual holdings research on a daily basis.
• Must be able to operate keyboard and calculator with speed and accuracy, as well as fax, copier, and other office machines.

Skills
• Basic math and keyboarding skills.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Good personal computer skills and must be proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Excel and Powerpoint.
• Proficiency in Excel as a management decision-making and evaluation tool.
• Ability to articulate investment ideas and strategies, including risk/return trade-offs.
• Proficient in utilizing Bloomberg as a research/evaluation tool.
• Ability to gain understanding of various sectors in the Public and Private equity market and assist in evaluating opportunities.
• Ability to maintain schedules and work well with others.
• Must be detail oriented and able to handle multiple projects at one time.
• Ability to maintain work schedule and work well with others in an office or field environment.
Training
• Required to have reached education level of full-time college sophomore, junior or senior, or MBA student who has a study focus on investments.
• 8-10 weeks of on the job training, product research and cross-training to become familiar with area work flow and routine assignments.
Responsibilities/Principal Accountabilities
• Works under close supervision of the Senior Portfolio Manager & Director.
• Accountable for performing assigned work accurately, efficiently and in accordance with established company policies and department procedures.
• Responsible for gaining familiarity with all Shelter portfolios andindividual holdings. Handles sensitive or confidential information appropriately.
• Responsible for completing assigned projects and tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
