Profile Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join Voya’s Corporate Tax Department, a dynamic and fast-paced group focused on driving tax efficiency and providing insightful advice to senior leadership across the company.
The Senior Tax Accountant will be involved in the preparation of federal and state tax returns, estimated tax payments and tax provision calculations. The successful candidate will be expected to interact with both peers and senior members of the tax team on tax provision, planning, compliance, and controversy matters and will have regular interaction with Corporate Controllers, Treasury and operations finance staff on income tax accounting and reporting matters.
Profile Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review individual company and consolidated tax returns, estimates and extensions.
• Prepare and review estimated tax payments and tax sharing calculations.
• Prepare and review tax basis balance sheets and deferred tax inventory supporting schedules.
• Prepare and review GAAP and Statutory quarterly tax provisions, including related reporting disclosures.
• Prepare and review quarterly and forecasted income tax projections and effective tax rate.
• Assist with documentation for quarterly and year-end tax provision audits by external and internal auditors.
• Prepare and review tax account reconciliations.
• Assist in the development of, and compliance with, internal controls over income tax reporting (SOX compliance).
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including development of standard work and constructive participation in huddles, root cause problem solving, process confirmations and coaching sessions.
• Assist with research and documentation of tax technical issues.
• Assist with department training and keep abreast of current tax developments.
• Assist with other projects as needed.
Knowledge & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field. CPA and/or master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred.
• 3–5 years’ experience; public accounting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
• Experience with OneSource Income Tax and OneSource Tax Provision preferred.
• Ability to analyze and interpret tax laws and determine impact on the organization.
• Ability to write memos, procedures and other correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and business units.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Willingness to make decisions, support and explain reasoning for decisions, while including appropriate individuals in decision-making process.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness.
• Willingness to volunteer readily, undertake self-development activities, seek increased responsibilities, and ask for and offer help when needed.
