Opportunity Overview
The Manager is responsible for delivering results in alignment with the firm, division and area's strategic and operational objectives through leadership of the Payroll department.
• Ensure the processing of payrolls encompassing US multi-state and Canadian multi-province are completed in an accurate, compliant and timely manner. Includes garnishments, benefits, deductions and taxes consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws.
• Balance operational and system priorities while also removing obstacles for team members to ensure associates are focused on key activities that meet critical payroll deadlines and business needs.
• Attract, retain, motivate and develop associates and deliver performance feedback on a consistent and timely basis.
• Ensure streamlined systems, processes and controls are in place to ensure financial integrity of payroll programs.
• Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the firm and to promote operational efficiency and influence key decisions.
• Lead or participate in firm-wide initiatives related to compensation payroll programs.
Position Requirements
• Bachelor degree in related field, or advanced degree preferred
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred
• Minimum 5 years relevant work experience leading a multi-state payroll department
• Knowledge of Canadian Payroll and ADP is preferred
• Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal rules and laws
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Proficient in relevant payroll and accounting software, knowledge of PeopleSoft is a plus
• Strong systems and application management skills
• Broad knowledge of accounting practices and principles
• Proven record of creating operational efficiencies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to identify and analyze highly complex situations and recommend solutions or improvements to management in a clear and concise manner
• Ability to use seasoned judgment to make decisions aligned with compensation policies or leading accounting practices
• Ability to coach, mentor and develop associates
