Job Summary
The Head of Account Management is responsible for developing and managing the National Accounts Team, resulting in profitable growth for the retail business segment. The incumbent is responsible for the identification and sales satisfaction of key accounts, by developing new prospect/customer opportunities, selling new products/services to established customers and ensuring agent retention.
Primary Responsibilities
• Provides financial guidelines to staff for signing profitable agent contracts.
• Ensures staff has resources, materials and incentives necessary to meet job objectives.
• Hires, trains, and develops overall group acct. management skills.
• Provides constructive, enthusiastic work environment for all employees.
• Negotiates large-scale agent’s contracts.
• Meets management targets for segment, volume and profit growth.
• Develops and provides quarterly written account plans and business objectives for all major accounts.
• Maintains open channels of communications with all major accounts.
• Analyzes marketplace trends, competitive activities, and new product or business opportunities.
• Manages sales activity to gain market share and alert other departments to competitive threats.
• Responsible for creating strategic plans that enhance share and increase channel profitability.
• Works with internal departments for timely agent setup and customer issue solutions.
• Provides timely and accurate reporting and communication to Leadership.
• Communicates technology trends as it affects the retail environment.
• Coordinates with the Marketing Manager to ensure the proper expenditure of marketing/promotional resources for retail agents.
• Performs other duties and/or special assignments/projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
• BA/BS in business or related field
• Masters, preferred.
Experience
• 10+ years sales experience.
• 5+ years sales experience to large retail chain accounts; selling financial services products, preferred.
• 5+ years of sales management experience.
Essential Skills
• Proven negotiation and consultative selling, and relationship management skills.
• Proven ability to work both independently and a team environment.
• Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills suitable to various levels in an organization.
• Proven ability to work with and motivate technical, operation and sales people at all levels of internal and external customers.
• Proven understanding of return on investment and account profitability.
• Proven PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer).
