Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Quantitative Developer to be embedded within this unique organization, to work on critical projects which will directly impact our ability to fulfill our long-term mission. The Senior Quantitative Developer will serve within a team of Analysts and Portfolio Managers that are highly collaborative and entrepreneurial.
The Senior Quantitative Developer will partner with this group to drive the development of proprietary research processes. This role will collaborate directly with senior investment professionals and technology associates to build models and deploy them into a production environment. The successful candidate will be embedded within our investor team and will require a balance of technical ability, business acumen, leadership ability, strong communication and collaboration skills.
Most importantly, the candidate will be passionate about using technology to transform a business and align to our mission of successful long-term investing.
The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Partner with Portfolio Managers and Analysts to design, build and test financial models that meet the requirements of individuals and small groups.
• Write SQL statements to pull pre-defined and custom time series data for charting, modeling, and forecasting purposes.
• Build customized screening tools using SQL. Work with developers to integrate them into scalable products and platforms.
• Work with users and developers to evaluate and integrate third-party data sources.
• Mentor developers on financial models/concepts.
• Entrepreneurial / ownership mindset with a demonstrated ability to function in multiple roles.
Position requirements:
• High degree of literacy in valuation methodologies, time series analysis, asset pricing models, and accounting fundamentals.
• Experience with data management and engineering of data sets used for inferring investment insights.
• Expertise with SQL that includes developing complex joins, pivot tables, aggregate functions, as well as troubleshooting and performance tuning. Additional DBA skills are plus.
• Experience with market data providers such as S&P Xpressfeed (preferred), Compustat, or QA Direct.
• Experience in object oriented design, middle-tier development in Java, and RESTful web services.
• Familiarity with Agile (Scrum) management methodology.
• Strong academic record and a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred or financial services experience required) containing high mathematical and computing content (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or Physics).
• Outstanding communication skills, ability to establish and maintain a close working relationship with distributed team members and business partners.
• Intellectual horsepower, critical thinking and learning agility with demonstrated ability to quickly adapt and utilize cutting edge technologies to solve business problems; conversant with current technologies applied in the fields of machine learning, data science, NLP and/or AI.
