Director, Software Engineering
Overview
This position is a member of the MasterCard development leadership focusing on development of our Digital Payment Solutions.
The objective for this role will be to provide a strong technical and delivery ownership, with an emphasis on absolute quality, and on-time delivery.
Candidate should have solid technical management experience, strong understanding and knowledge of software development using Agile methodologies and also have experience working with global and distributed teams.
The Business Leader will focus on leading a solid development team in Vadodara India to design and develop web and mobile products. Chief among these products is MasterPass, MasterCard’s digital wallet solution.
Role
Provide leadership and direction to software development teams in the development of Digital Payments solutions across our products and services
Ensure ownership and delivery of the team’s deliverables
Ensure stronger collaboration across distributed global development teams
Ensure software designs align with MasterCard’s Enterprise Architecture and leverage our enterprise services.
Ensure product development meets MasterCard’s business needs.
Ensure development teams use the appropriate MasterCard standard development methodologies and follow our technology standards, and that all projects and development are appropriately documented.
Ensure that software and system design and delivery support the goal of zero down time in production.
Define a key set of quality and performance metrics appropriate to a software development organization.
Work closely with business partners on product definition, product roadmaps, business case development, and overall direction for the team.
Ensure approved staffing levels are maintained, departmental and staff education, training and cross training needs are met.
Ensure that staff has skills and behaviors to perform tasks fully through effective communication of goals, objectives, performance and, as necessary, improvement plans.
Ensure budgets are managed to investment targets, ensuring the team complies with all financial management processes.
Respond to operational and business concerns or issues relative to future business programs, projects, or enhancements to ensure consistent delivery of quality services.
Ensure development supports all appropriate certifications and compliance requirements, including those for PCI, GLBA, Safe Harbor, and others.
All About You
Experience in leading teams in software development for eCommerce and mobile commerce solutions.
Successfully built and brought to market multiple enterprise grade applications
Experience working with global delivery teams
Solid experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Proven ability to take a lead position in large, complex initiatives of strategic importance.
Have strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
Experience mentoring and developing resources in a high performance culture.
Excellent Communication skills required to interact across multiple organizational levels of internal and external customer groups.
Experience preparing & delivering executive level presentations to business and technology audiences.
Budget and financial management experience.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in related functional area or equivalent work experience with exposure to management theories and concepts.
