Profile Summary:
The Client Data Steward reports to the VP of Enterprise Data Governance, and is responsible for supporting data governance initiatives, and responsible for client data content, context and associated business rules. The role works with business and technology SMEs within and across business unit(s) to improve reusability, accessibility and quality of client data. This role will provide data stewardship around Client data, and will work with various SMEs in the business, operations and technology to uphold the data governance framework.
Profile Description:
• Develop and maintain a working relationship with various business and technology teams to leverage client data value across the enterprise
• Champions Enterprise Data Governance Strategy and advocates and supports implementation / adoption of Data Governance Office prescribed data principles, policies and standards
• Provides SME input and works with data producers and consumers to assemble business data information about the domain and consolidate it into a data model that accurately reflects steward’s domain of influence / control
• Provide ongoing support with definition and maintenance of metadata, business terms, data ownership, CDE’s, producer/consumer listing, information flow diagrams, within the client data domain
• Defines and monitors business data profiles and data quality rules and issues to perform root cause analysis and data remediation activities related to data quality. Identifies anomalies and documents data issues.
• Manage issue management and resolution processes (Prioritization, tracking, accountability etc.) to remediate data quality issues in a timely manner
• Communicates new and changed business requirements, rules, and definitions to associates and/or Business Units that may be impacted.
• Document the origin and sources of authority on each metadata element, and define data flows within the Business Unit.
• Aid in the identification and documentation of business processes and supporting critical data elements.
• Comply with all security policies and procedures, to ensure that the highest level of system and data confidentiality, integrity and availability is maintained.
Knowledge & Experience:
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business, Finance, MIS or Computer science
• 7-10+ years in financial services industry. Specific knowledge around data governance and data management principles
• Experience in business and data analysis, process improvement and project management
• Experience in developing data standards, processes, and policies
• Experience in developing and implementing enterprise data strategies, operational data stores and data quality tools
• Experience in managing large scale data remediation projects
• Specific knowledge of a relevant data domain - business area / system / function (e.g. Retirement, Investment Management, Life Insurance, Annuity, Employee Benefits, Finance, GL, Capital Markets, Operations, Risk, Regulatory reporting, Audit, etc.)
• Specific knowledge of client relevant data domain, systems/architecture (e.g. Salesforce)
• Preferred - Ability to interpret, analyze large data sets leveraging different tools; Prior exposure to tools and technology such as Collibra, Pandora, Archer; Basic knowledge of SQL / Access / Qlikview/ Tableau
