The West Region Marketing Director is a member of RSM’s Integrated Marketing and Communications (IMC) function and is responsible for leading the development, and execution of the West Region marketing strategy ensuring alignment with the firm’s overarching marketing and brand strategy. The Marketing Director is a member of both the West Region and Marketing leadership teams and works collaboratively with these groups to establish a marketing strategy that supports the business and growth goals of the region. The Marketing Director is responsible for leading the West Region marketing team and will have broad knowledge across all marketing disciplines including brand management, marketing analytics, digital marketing, extensive experience in developing and deploying growth strategies, budgeting, market planning, marketing strategy, and marketing/sales integration & support. The role requires an ability to influence business partners and serve as a strategic advisor, think and implement strategically, strong talent development and team management skills, collegial behavior, and the capability to make complex, high-level management judgments and decisions.
Marketing Execution:
• Leads marketing strategy design and execution for the West Region through collaboration with marketing leadership team, national line of business (LOB) and industry marketing leaders; West Region sales leader; West Region office managing partners/location leaders, and other regional leaders, including LOB, industry and specialty practice. Key focus is on helping growth teams and LOB teams achieve revenue and growth goals and to enhance the RSM brand. Project management responsibility for key deliverables as outlined in the marketing plan, including marketing campaigns and programs, demand generation, analytics, target market definitions, budget recommendations and management and ongoing analysis to make and implement recommendations to help the practice achieve desired growth goals.
• Directs marketing team and related resources in the West Region and ensures collaborative and mutually supportive relationships are built with all Centers of Excellence including communications, thought leadership, eCRM, email, proposal, marketing coordinators research sales, design, digital media, demand generation, sales and administrative staff who serve local teams. Leads marketing resources to ensure implementation of strategic marketing plans including defining success criteria, measure effectiveness of initiatives, and report on results. Builds, maintains and oversees relationships with strategically aligned external organizations such as local publications and relevant industry associations and organizations.
• Directs development and implementation of go-to-market strategies for assigned areas and provides strategic direction and messaging for key pursuits and proposals
• Strategic advisor to the West Region leadership team and others including regional line of business leaders, regional industry leaders, office managing partners and others on all marketing related topics.
Marketing Planning:
• Directs overall project management for marketing planning and reporting process for their assigned responsibility areas, working closely with others in IMC team to ensure timely development of integrated marketing plan “views” aligned with key strategies and metrics for each priority growth team. Integrates national industry, regional, and LOB marketing plans and programs as appropriate.
• Provides strategic input to national marketing planning process and participates with marketing team in leveraging plans and working with selected national LOB leaders and priority national industry and specialty practice leaders to help develop national integrated marketing plan “views” that can be fully integrated with regional plans.
Monitoring Measuring, Quality:
• Takes leadership in determining best practices for the delivery of efficient, cost effective marketing processes & programs, balancing the need for a pragmatic approach to execution and delivery with the need to deliver services to a consistently high standard for assigned responsibility areas. Identifies opportunities to drive cost optimization and efficiency through the appropriate measurement of return on investment of marketing spend, and through effective utilization of talent, technology and financial resources.
• Champions the firm’s brand internally and externally within the region; ensures full compliance with the brand strategy, messaging, and brand guidelines throughout the firm for their areas of responsibility.
• Sets the highest personal standard for driving quality in all areas of marketing. Adheres and holds others accountable for adhering to all quality, compliance and risk management policies and procedures.
Talent Pipeline:
• Leads selection and development of marketing team for the West Region. Takes an active role in their professional development and evaluation process and proactively coaches West Region team and other members of IMC.
• Create an environment of trust, teamwork, development, empowerment, and entrepreneurship through quality communication, mutually respectful relationships, coaching and mentoring strategies.
• Motivates and develops a high performing marketing team.
• Provides mentoring, support and assistance to team members they supervise or influence in the areas of: Marketing strategy and planning and brand management; teamwork and communication and leadership development.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS SPECIFIC TO JOB
• Deep understanding of various competencies related to the marketing accounting, tax and consulting services.
• Understanding of the needs of “C” level executives within the firm’s target marketing, and other relevant buyers and influencers
• Understanding of key industries that are core target markets of the firm.
EXPERIENCE
(MUST NOTE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED)
Minimum 8 years marketing experience with a preference for experience in a large professional services or similar organization with proven abilities to collect, synthesize and manage market/client data; develop and implement direct marketing, advertising, PR, social media, branding and internet marketing initiatives; and serve as a strategic advisor to stakeholders.
