Works with a variety of corporate tax compliance and provision issues. Responsible for preparation of premium, municipal and occupational taxes for Shelter Insurance Companies, as well as unclaimed property filings. Works to ensure compliance with applicable state premium tax codes and unclaimed property requirements. Works with tax professionals to achieve federal and state income tax preparation and compliance. Requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepares state by state quarterly and annual premium tax and other related tax returns on a timely basis.
• Determines and pays quarterly and annual premium tax liabilities.
• Monitors state guaranty fund assessments, credits and related premium tax offsets.
• Reviews state filing requirements to ensure compliance.
• Assists with federal and state income tax returns, prepayments, schedules, and supporting paperwork.
• Maintains excellent and thorough tax records for internal and external audit purposes.
• Assists with due diligence mailings for unclaimed property.
• Prepares unclaimed property filings in accordance with state laws.
• Performs general ledger account reconciliations.
• Coordinates and/or prepares Workday reports supporting job requirements.
• Reconciles and balances fixed asset system (book and tax) and agent leased offices to general ledger using various database systems and programs.
• Maintains knowledge of fixed asset concepts.
• Maintains company car mileage tracking.
• Expands Workday knowledge, including the use of EIB’s, reports, and new features that come available.
• Backs up various positions in the treasury group as needed.
• This is the skill set for an individual at mid-point of position. Based upon banding of grades, the skills needed may vary.

Education & Work Experience
• Bachelors Degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
• Two to four years accounting experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Familiar with Access and Microsoft Word.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong time management skills.
• Individual must be detail-oriented and motivated.
