POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will lead and transform the Cost Allocation General Ledger team, will be responsible for leading numerous finance transformation initiatives, and will join the leadership team responsible for the books and records of the organization. He/she will report to the VP of Finance Operations.
He/she will be resolving a wide-range of issues by applying judgment and technical knowledge to identify creative ways to complete assignments and influence others to take action. He/she will apply comprehensive knowledge and technical understanding of GAAP and control frameworks, specifically as it relates to intercompany relationships, cost allocations and related transactions. He/she draws on superior understanding of a broad range of general ledger accounting transaction scenarios recommending and implementing appropriate treatment of transaction types and controls. He/she analyzes internal accounting, control procedures, and ledger rule sets to ensure proper accounting principles and ledgering are upheld. He/she will be responsible for identifying control gaps and implementing accounting controls.
This position will provide leadership to all aspects of delivering a Finance transformational program, including development, execution, and transition to shared services organization for select processes. He/she will provide leadership on the integration of processes and procedures, standardization and consistency on service delivery, and process improvement initiatives. He/she will drive transformation in order to maximize the return across all Finance initiatives providing guidance and decision making for the program.
He/she will support the VP of Operations in oversight of daily functions and special initiatives as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Evaluates and defines strategic organizational goals, objectives, and journey for organizational initiatives within the Finance Shared Services program.
• Ensures the Finance Operation's organizational goals are aligned with overall enterprise business plans and specific strategic and tactical initiatives for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Designs and manages the execution of the Finance Shared Services organizational initiatives.
• Provides thought leadership and functional expertise in order to manage an appropriate organizational structure, for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility capable of supporting the needs of the company through cost-effective technology.
• Leads and enhances those organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with executive/senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
• Leads the identification, development, and implementation of strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the team, business unit, and/or the organization for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Leads/executes approved strategy for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Undertake and manage special projects and other reporting needs as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills, Degrees, Certifications and/or Licenses:
• BS or BA degree in Accounting required
• CPA required
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong consolidation accounting experience in a high growth, start-up environment
• Experience with large financial accounting systems (PeopleSoft experience a plus)
• Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
Desired Skills, Degrees, Certifications and/or Licenses:
• MBA a plus
• Experience with Hyperion Financial Management strongly preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Advocates effectively, readily command attention and respect in groups as demonstrated by people listening to and getting on board with initiatives for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence, policies and proposals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, the general public, and/or any applicable regulatory organization.
• Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to think critically, analyze information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution.
• Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
