Opportunity Overview
Seeking an individual interested in a robust and technical role focused on providing Edward Jones' 3.1 million households with timely and accurate tax forms.
This position has a broad scope of responsibility for accomplishing core/critical technical or significant operational functions including interpreting complex information and making subjective decisions that have substantial risk or that may have legal, regulatory or financial implications. Decisions must ensure collaboration with a variety of business areas across the organization. The position is required to have a deep understanding of rules & regulations and the impact they have on the US Tax Team's functions, systems and controls; along with identifying inherent and potential risks including implementation of recommendations to mitigate them.
Responsibilities include providing detailed analysis of information along with alternative solutions and present recommendations to business area leaders for process or system improvements. Direct or manage one or more systems in order to deliver new technology or system upgrades through gathering requirements, developing & executing system tests, providing readiness sign off and supporting all aspects of implementation. Implementation of the agreed upon solutions is also required. The ability to understand and interpret complex and diverse information from multiple data sources is paramount.
Position Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in the financial services industry or related field. Strong understanding of business and specific tax regulations is required within 6 months.
• Series 7 and Series 66 required within 12 months.
• Background in project management, change management, risk management, business specific technical support, lean six sigma or business analysis is strongly preferred.
• Support business objectives, projects and enhancement initiatives of the department by developing test scripts, performing testing, implementing and measuring specific business processes in order to better serve branch teams and clients. This may include supporting the work to identify and document project-related tasks and requirements.
• Strong analytical skills required with proficiency in creating complex spreadsheets and formulas, advanced skills running Hyperion queries, as well as creating and analyzing reports.
• Understand the firm's supervisory controls and procedures and utilize software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and database tools, query tools such as Hyperion and Web Focus to identify trends, correlations and assist Compliance with regulatory investigations.
• Experience with SQL and Apex preferred.
• Experience writing complex macros preferred.
• Takes initiative; motivated self- starter and detailed oriented; able to meet deadlines while working both independently and collaboratively, and possibly remotely.
