Job Function and Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Manage a team of accountants responsible for the accounting and reporting for the New York Life Insurance and Annuity Corporation’s (“NYLIAC”) Separate Accounts.
• Responsibilities include:
◦ Manage the preparation of and review the accounting, reporting and analysis on a Statutory and GAAP basis for various separate accounts
◦ Manage the preparation of and review the Separate Account Statutory Annual Statement filed with the NAIC and the state insurance departments.
◦ Review the annual financial statements for each SEC registered separate account, annual disclosures, prospectus’ and Edgar filings for SEC Registered separate accounts of variable life and variable annuity products.
◦ Assist in the development of the accounting requirements and testing for new products.
◦ Responsible for researching and understanding the accounting and regulatory guidance related to separate accounts.
◦ Act as liaison with internal and external auditors.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance with a minimum of 7+ years experience in financial accounting/reporting and or investment accounting/reporting.
• Strong oral and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with various levels of management, internal customers and auditors.
• Strong management/supervisory, interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Team oriented. Ability to work in a fast- paced environment and shift priorities as necessary.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and Power Point.
Additional Qualifications:
• Knowledge of life insurance industry accounting (Statutory accounting) and/or insurance separate accounts is a plus.
• Knowledge of Wings, SAP and W desk experience is a plus.
• CPA or MBA is a plus.
