This position will provide support to the Corporate Accounting Department for the multiple divisions within Ascensus. Responsibilities include supporting the monthly close process, financial reporting requirements, regulatory compliance, daily operations activity, and mergers & acquisitions activity. Candidates for this position are required to be actively in pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and possess strong spreadsheet skills. This position is flexible with class schedules, offering 16+ hours/week and/or full time opportunities during the school year and summer.
Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for preparing and recording month-end journal entries
• Assist in preparation and analysis of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with Day 1 Purchase Accounting as a result of M&A activity
• Analyze monthly/quarterly fluctuations in key areas of the Income Statement and Balance Sheet for new acquisitions to ensure accuracy of reported results
• Work closely with all members of the Corporate Accounting team to understand the impact of day-to-day operations
• Assist in processing daily cash posting and balancing
• Prepare governmental statistical census reports to ensure compliance
• Support external audit requirements
• Collaborate with division personnel including the Financial Planning and Analysis team, Legal, Marketing, Operations, and Relationship Management
• Complete special projects for management and other financial functions within the department as required
• Responsible for protecting and securing all client data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access to and/or improper transmission of information that could result in harm to a client

Section 3: Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements
Recommended Qualifications:
• Accounting Majors with a minimum GPA of 3.0
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Independent self-starter
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work within tight timeframes
• Highly analytical and detail oriented with an aptitude for problem solving
• Ability to work independently as well as with a team in a fast-paced environment
