Tasks/responsibilities:
• Responsible for directing and managing the organization's accounting functions
• Oversee the preparation of journal entries, maintenance of ledger accounts, and prepare the financial statements for the annual audit
• Plan the annual audit, provide support, create work papers for the audit and report final audited statements to the local executive management
• Establish and maintain the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives
• Evaluate and make appropriate improvements to local internal accounting processes and internal controls ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization
• Prepare financial reports and present findings and recommendations to local executive management
• Perform financial controlling duties such as budget planning, cost analysis and forecasts
• Oversee the payroll administration
• Prepare Sales & Use tax forms for State, County and City and provide reports and information for the Corporate Income Tax filings to external tax accountants
• Support strategic projects, including mergers & acquisitions, with accounting knowledge
• Maintain a close cross-border-communication to parent company in Germany as contact person for all financial topics of the U.S. subsidiary
Qualifications/required skills:
• University degree in business administration or comparable, CPA is an asset
• Very good knowledge of US GAAP, as well as good knowledge of IFRS
• Extensive knowledge of accounting practices
• Good knowledge of SAP-FI and SAP-CO or comparable software
• Good knowledge of financial controlling and taxes desirable
• Several years of relevant professional experience in the field of accounting, preferably in multinational companies
• Strong communication skills, good analytical thinking and a high degree of initiative
• Interest in familiarizing quickly and independently with new accounting areas and subjects, willingness to take on responsibilities
• German-speaking is an asset
