The Senior Business Systems Analyst is responsible for delivery and support of web based and integration enterprise solutions. Converts business requirements (User Stories, Process Maps and Use Cases) into functional and system specifications for workable solutions to present to technology staff. Assists IT project team in coordination and testing of system solutions and ensuring delivered solutions meet functional and system requirements. A thorough understanding of SDLC best practices is necessary. The key skills for this position are P&C Insurance Domain Knowledge, and past exposure and experience with SSRS, SQL Server and other Microsoft related platforms (IIS & .Net).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop detailed functional and system specifications based on business requirements, business process maps and use cases defined by Business Analyst.
• Develop Reports using SSRS
• Work with the business to identify functional and performance expectations.
• Validate all implemented functions perform according to specifications.
• Promote and verify quality in all releases.
• Assist in the preparation and execution of User Acceptance Testing
• Triage and document reported defects
• Participate in prototyping solutions to provide business users with a preliminary evaluation and/or user interface experience
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business users and IT team
• Meet with Business Analyst, business product owners and users to gather functional and System requirements.
• Work on multiple projects independently in support of organizational objectives
• Comply with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodology
• Support of existing custom web based applications and commercial solutions.
• Perform unit, segment and system/integration level testing on new applications and for changes to existing solutions.
• Ability to quickly learn legacy applications and document current state.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor of Computer Science Degree or equivalent discipline
• 5+ years of experience as a Business System Analyst.
• 3+ years SQL Server 2008-2016 (SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS)
• 3+ years in writing SSRS Reports
• 3 – 5 years in a Business Systems Analyst role with experience with policy admin, Billing or Claims systems
• Property and Casualty Insurance domain experience
• Advanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite products (including Excel, Outlook, Visio, and Word)
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with all team members
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Enjoys solving problems and has strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Effectively able to multi-task in an fast paced environment
• Highly self-motivated, organized, with excellent time management skills
PREFERRED:
• Implementation or working experience, Duck Creek / Guidewire a plus
• 1+ years experience developing web services and related technologies
• 1+ years working knowledge of PowerBI or comparable BI reporting platform
• 1+ years working in Agile/SCRUM SDLC
• 1+ years using Team Foundation Server (TFS) for source control and management
• 1+ years experience with commercial grade testing tools and testing automation
• 1+ years experience with HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS
• 1+ years experience with JIRA Software
• Working knowledge of data warehouse and BI technologies
