The Head of Personal Insurance Claims will report to the Chief Claims Officer for General Insurance and the Chief Executive Officer of Personal Insurance (PI). This role will be responsible for leading the claims function across the Personal Insurance Business Units. The incumbent will be a member of the General Insurance Claims leadership team, will focus operationally and technically on the North America claims organization of PI and be responsible for the technical oversight and coordination of the International claims organization of Personal Insurance in collaboration with the Head of International Claims for General Insurance.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
• Leadership and management responsibilities for the Personal Insurance claim business functions as outlined above
• Responsible for technical claims best practices and consistency
• Sponsoring and driving initiatives to improve total cost of claims and outcomes, business alignment, partnership and feedback, as well as driving a continuous improvement and service oriented culture across the Personal Insurance claims organization in North American and Internationally
• Ensures accuracy, timeliness and consistency of claims reserves and payments
• Establishing overall claims handling policies, programs and annual business goals, and implements a CAT response strategy and reporting process
• Ensures close alignment with the regional and country level claims operations, to leverage regional operational capability and to maintain legal and regulatory compliance at the regional, country and legal entity level to support the overall International business objectives in close coordination with the Head of International Claims
• Partners with the Head of International Claims on specific engagement models and regional and technical capabilities required to meet regional and country level business objectives and General Insurance claims objectives
• Supports ongoing Personal Insurance Claims improvement projects through programs and initiatives to foster an environment of continuous improvement
• Apprises senior management of changes/trends in the legal, regulatory and claims environment.
• Develops strategies and tools, in collaboration with HR, to attract and retain top industry talent and develop high performing teams.
• Drives a culture that promotes collaboration, diversity and inclusion
Key Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess proven experience in leading and scaling a multi-channel complex organization and a demonstrated ability to both manage and build the capabilities of a driven, bright, diverse team. In addition, she/he will have a proven track record as an exceptionally effective change agent. The candidate will possess a strong business and process mindset and change leadership skills to unify teams around common goals and drive change in the financial services industry.
Additional requirements include:
• At least 15 years claims leadership experience, including oversight over multiple Personal Insurance products and geographies
• Strong commercial mindset with a proven track record of making sound judgments backed by strong analytical skills and business acumen
• Self-directed with ability to manage and motivate others
• Proven Strategic Leadership skills in developing vision and purpose, driving for results and leading effective teams
• Skilled leader of change; versatile, client focused, results oriented
• Demonstrated expert claims experience, business savvy, analytical and quantitative skills
• Strong problem solving and conflict resolution
