Your role
As a Head of Strategy,your main responsibilities will involve:
Strategy
• Leads process of defining and executing the strategy for the region with link to the planning process and financial plan; works closely with main stakeholders to define strategic priorities for APAC
• Support the definition of business plans to deliver a coherent and compelling story in the region which is aligned with the group strategy
• Performs periodic reviews of strategy’s and monitors effective delivery and execution
• Monitors, anticipates and assesses macro-economic and regulatory trends to ensure that APAC is optimally positioned to respond to change
• Collaborates with APAC and BU executives as well as Group to ensure delivery, i.e., drive a clear, connected and consistent approach to the development, communication and execution of the strategy across APAC
• Communicates and explains strategic priorities throughout the organization
Business Development
• Oversees business development, prioritization and execution of APAC-wide strategic initiatives, business reviews, and innovation efforts
• Coordinates and prioritizes business development activities, ensuring quality of deliverable and capability building
• Provides evaluation/validation of strategic priorities relative to peers through analysis of performance, strengths and weaknesses of key competitors
• Reviews business cases submitted by BU’s
• Engages internal and external stakeholders
• Promotes, addresses, supervises and controls the launch of new business initiatives / projects
• Develops ideas for new business models, including new market entries, based on partnerships and networks of partners
• Identifies opportunities related to technological, regulatory and other changes, and develops internal capabilities to capitalize on these
• Identifies investments and partnerships that are aligned with the strategic priorities in APAC and the BUs
M&A
• Identifies M&A opportunities in line with APAC strategy and manages appropriate M&A pipeline
• Leads M&A transactions across all aspects of the value chain and functions, coordinates and manages external advisors
• Negotiates with counterparties, leads the communication and manages related processes
• Prepares presentations, coordinates the sign-off process and supports getting approvals from the various internal committees
• Ensures collaboration among Group, APAC and BU’s, in particular with Group M&A
• Ensures projects are executed towards Zurich standards and expectations
• Maintains relationships with bankers, financial and other M&A advisors
Your Skills and Experience
As a Head of Strategy, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
• Masters degree (or equivalent) with minimum 10 years of experience in strategic planning or consulting and M&A with insurance focus
• Minimum 5 years experience in progressive leadership
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills
• Experience delivering strategic and transformational projects
• Ability to lead cross-functional and M&A projects
