Analysts work under guidance and supervision from the analyst team and systems management to formulate, define, and document detailed specifications from which new products or enhancements for life and disability offerings will be developed and maintained. They will provide progress/status to help systems management ensure deliverables meet business stakeholder expectations.
Primary Responsibilities
• Work intake/prioritization: Work with Business Product Owners to review priorities and understand assigned deliverables.
• Work definition/requirements management: Work alongside analyst team to define deliverables by gathering, analyzing, and documenting requirements. May collaborate with systems development teams on test planning to identify test data requirements and/or scenarios. May collaborate with design team to create user-interface mockups.
• Development readiness: Work within Agile team structure to decompose and determine final "development ready" business, technical, and design requirements.
• Day-to-day support: Acts as the daily liaison between business stakeholders and systems development teams by troubleshooting and answering questions as needed and follows up on outstanding issues that block development.
• Production readiness: Support product engagement with business stakeholders as needed to ensure operational/business readiness for new features. May support production release activities as needed.
• Formulates, defines, and documents systems/application scope and objectives working closely with systems architecture, development and engineering teams. Prepares detailed specifications from which system/applications will be developed and maintained. Works under the guidance of senior level analysts.
• Performs portions of the system development lifecycle including gathering, documenting and analyzing requirements for somewhat complex, multi-platform applications. Maintains documentation, project tracking, and key stakeholder reporting metrics. Makes recommendations for project resource requirements to senior level staff, project managers and/or systems leadership.
• Performs system/application testing to ensure delivery meets business, budgetary, and end-user expectations. Depending on assigned area(s), may be responsible for the quality assurance testing function.
• Provides day to day support to existing applications and troubleshoots system/applications performance issues as they arise. Provides resolution to system/application problems under the guidance of more senior analysts. Depending on applications supported, may provide technical support and guidance directly to end users.
• Acts as a liaison between key business area and systems teams, and communicates project feasibility, status and issues to key stakeholders.
• May have regular interaction with business leaders.
• Participation in the continuous improvement of a consensus-based approach to the Project Process and Tooling. Effectively leveraging tool-sets to productively facilitate the associative requirements-to-deployment lifecycle.
• Accountable for supporting and facilitating the fulfillment of Customer Relationship Management.
• Accountable for relationship with identified Customer Contact in supported business area.
• Limited participation in training and other activities involved in Requirements Management and Project Process.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience
• Familiar with Agile development methodology
• Preferred experience using JIRA in Agile and/or iterative development methodologies
• Insurance Industry knowledge (Actuary Valuations, Accounting)
• Software development background
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant systems experience
• Batch process flows
• SQL and relational databases
• Collaborative team skills
