Reporting Relationship: Will report directly to the Head of Enterprise Data Management (EDM) in the Chief Data Office (CDO)
Job Summary:
The EDM Shared Services & New Initiatives Lead is tasked with enterprise ownership and management of the Shared Services & New Initiatives for Enterprise Data Management. This function will oversee the EDM Shared Services offerings in alignment with Enterprise Architecture and Information Technology (Integrated Services of Americas). They will ensure business adherence to the use of data management tools and the associated controls in alignment with technology partners (including Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Technology Infrastructure, Cloud Services and Application Development). The Shared Services & New Initiatives team will collaborate with the Control Partner teams to understand, vet and enhance control requirements then rationalize, prioritize and commission technology data management capabilities to support tightly controlled and highly automated business activities. Additionally this function provides a support framework in collaboration with technology partners to further mature data management capabilities in support of future business requirements in line with advancing industry technology trends. The Shared Services & New Initiatives team will initially focus on our EDM capabilities in support of Party and Reference Data.
Major Responsibilities:
This function will support the Enterprise Data Management (EDM) pillar of the Chief Data Office (CDO) in all aspects of technology requirements for financial services data management to ensure consistent, reliable and measurable adoption of technology in alignment with Policies, Standards, Procedures, guidance and best practices throughout the enterprise. This role will identify key technology partners and develop an engagement model to support the enablement of the business’ data management requirements. Additionally this function will negotiate needed measurement and enforcement capabilities to ensure business needs are meet and applicable technology capabilities are available. The lead will contribute to developing default procedures aligned to business activities and technology capabilities in adherence to firm standards as well as training, guidance and communication materials to facilitate best practices in data management. The candidate will coordinate and collaborate with technology and data management partners in multiple technology initiatives and will be a key contributor in maturing the data culture, advancing the data strategy and instilling CDO values.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree and minimum 10 years related experience with evidence of success and increasing levels of responsibility. Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years financial services experience directly performing or supporting US retail, wholesale and/or investment banking.
• Strong knowledge of technology requirements for data management in financial services and experience driving business adoption
• Strong knowledge and understanding of current and future trends in data management technology for financial services
• Experience working on business and technology data projects and programs with multiple technology partners and an array of varying priorities
• Mastery of technology requirements and documentation and use cases for financial services
• Excellent analysis skills with hands-on experience tracking and fulfilling technology requirements
• Experience implementing technology solutions in support of business requirements through a framework of good data management within a complex controls regime.
• Experience developing and maintaining strong partnerships with financial services technology partners
• Experience determining technology environment gaps and working with technology partners to remediate
• Experience assessing business processes and extracting technology requirements and identifying improvement opportunities
• Experience designing adherent procedures to accelerate the business process, confirm to standards and create then drive the adoption of best practices
• Experience in data organizations (governance, steward, custodian, analysis for control soundness)
Additional Requirements:
• Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, skills are essential, with extreme proficiency in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint and Visio
• Must be a confident communicator and presenter with excellent people and influencing skills including ability to present concepts verbally with confidence
• Excellent organizational, time management and planning skills
• Superior project management skills with proficiency in Microsoft Project
• Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach
• Ability to handle multiple objectives in a fast-paced corporate environment
• Ability to quickly absorb and command new business and data concepts
• Experience working in highly distributed complex business and technology environments
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive business relationships with partners
