Background on the Team
Global Wealth Management Operations provides brokerage, investment and financial services to hundreds of thousands of individual investors. We apply our expertise in serving institutional clients to create new opportunities for people to achieve their personal financial goals. Morgan Stanley has one of the largest retail brokerage networks, with numerous worldwide representatives and retail locations. Our services are tailored to each client's investment objectives, risk tolerance, and financial needs. Products include mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and alternative investments where appropriate, as well as banking, mortgages, insurance and annuities.
The Client Tax Reporting Department is responsible for ensuring that all withholding and reporting obligations of the Firm are met. The Client Tax Analyst position is required to perform numerous daily functions, including review and approval of tax documentations, review of control reports and assist with year-end 1042-S/1099 reporting, and answer a wide range of complex questions related to tax documentation, withholding and reporting coming from our branch offices and internal business partners.
Responsibilities:
• Assists FAs via MSSN calls and Case Management tickets that are sent to Tax Ops
• Assist in reviewing Year End Processing and mass corrections
• Process daily client tax documents (W-8s)
• Review and address withholding and reporting exception reports
• Assist in creating and reviewing audit procedure documentation
• Knowledge in IRS Chapter 3 & 4 NRA and FATCA regulations
• Must be familiar with the various types of client account classifications, tax document requirements and associated withholding and reporting requirements
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree required
• Prior tax experience
• Written and verbal communication skills dealing with various business, operational units, IRS and vendors
• Ability to interact with individuals within TCRO
• Strong PC skills in Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint)
