Vanguard has an exciting new opportunity for a Project Manager within the Global Professional Practices group in Internal Audit (IA). This position will be located at our corporate headquarters in Malvern, PA (greater Philadelphia area). The candidate will execute the Internal Audit technology and communications strategy to include:
•Infrastructure and Admin – manages the core IA technologies and assets related to user support, enhancements/ upgrades, etc. (e.g., audit lifecycle software including workpaper documentation and issue management); Serves as the departmental security champion (i.e., oversees access and administration)
•Project / Relationship Management – manages implementation of any new technologies and updates; point of contact for key relationships with technology support providers (e.g., Divisional IT teams, Service Providers, etc.)
•Communications / Knowledge Management – develop technology / approach to manage department communications and expanded training & development curriculum (e.g., managing the IA SharePoint platform in coordination with department content subject matter experts to include maintenance of pages/content, design and build of new pages, etc.); Develops training content as needed to support technology ecosystem changes
•Special projects – supports departmental strategic projects with significant technology dependencies, and supports overall project management
The candidate will build and maintain positive, working relationships within the department and with service providers, demonstrate strong critical and conceptual thinking ability, have excellent judgment and decision-making skills and be solution and outcome-oriented.

Duties and Responsibilities
To manage highly complex, critical projects and must effectively apply critical thinking skills to evaluate project needs, define project objectives and maintain optimal project plans to deliver high quality deliverables.
• Establishes clear direction, applies strong project management skills, and prioritizes and orders work. Collects and evaluates project requirements and stakeholder inputs.
• Constructs concrete project plans that eliminate ambiguity for project teams and oversees multiple highly complex projects/programs within the department and across Vanguard as needed.
• Practices critical thinking and applies productive questioning skills to fully understand project goals for the success of the project. Actively uncovers information to assist project teams in developing project outputs. Anticipates challenges both within the department and outside and takes action to keep projects on track.
• Facilitates constructive dialogue among project team members. Provides complete and clear updates throughout project timelines to keep teams informed and to make certain projects deliver on time and per specifications.
• Communicates timely and constructive feedback to keep project teams on task.
• Manages time effectively and prioritizes work wisely to oversee multiple projects at once. Assesses project complexities and ensures sufficient time is allocated to difficult tasks.
• Troubleshoots issues and clears obstacles to ensure project success and modifies project plans to meet deadlines. Demonstrates an ability to independently lead teams through complex problems and think outside the box for alternate solutions. Garners leadership support, as needed, to ensure projects are sufficiently resourced and effectively prioritized.
• Builds strong working relationships and networks, including internal resources, internal business partners, and other affected Vanguard areas i.e. information technology, business technology operations. Puts Vanguard’s priorities ahead of personal agenda and fosters an inclusive environment.
• Shows leadership impact and models unquestionable ethics and integrity, energizes, inspires, and coaches others, represents Vanguard well both internally and externally. Demonstrates strong knowledge of our business, clients and competitors and effectively applies this knowledge to enhance project results.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum five years general experience and five years industry experience.
• Project management experience preferred.
• Solid organizational skills.
• Ability to work across multiple functions.
• Ability to work well under deadline pressure.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work well with a team.
• Demonstrated initiative.
• Strong understanding of system access management and software implementation concepts and processes.
• Working experience with SharePoint design, construction, and maintenance.
