Job Description
Job Summary:
This position reviews and evaluates all residential appraisals associated with Retail and Consumer Lending, Commercial, Business Banking and Collections transactions secured by real estate in compliance with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP), FIRREA, and internal appraisal requirements.
Principal Responsibilities:
Reviews all residential appraisals for the organization and provides a written conclusion that is deemed is technically accurate, financially sound and meets industry standard eligibility requirements. In addition, this position may be required for condominium reviews for FHA, new construction projects, full and limited transaction as needed.
Collaborates with business line and or customer to troubleshoot and resolve appraisal concerns, questions and disputes in a timely and efficient manner.
Partners with appraisers to ensure timely completion of all corrections and modifications to reports and provides pertinent information to address questions during the review process.
Develops and maintains expertise in all aspects of residential real estate appraisal.
Provides support ad hoc reporting requests as needed.
Adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies.
Job Requirements
Education/Experience Requirements:
College degree or equivalent work experience
3+ years of residential real estate valuation, a thorough understanding of appraisal theory, methods and techniques and a thorough understanding of USPAP and federal appraisal regulations.
Additional Job Requirements:
Certification/License:
State of CT appraisal license preferred but not required.
Behavioral/Technical Skills:
Strong PC skills, including word processing, spreadsheets (intermediate Excel skills), and standard industry and internal software. Ability to learn new applications as needed.
Strong math and computation skills.
Strong working knowledge of various state and federal regulations related to appraisal requirements.
Specialized knowledge of USPAP (Uniform Standards Property and Appraisal Practices) and secondary market requirements preferred.
Ability to exercise excellent analytical, creative, negotiation and problem solving skills when using a wide range of information and perspective to identify solutions to appraisal related problems or to clearly and concisely convey concerns, business risks or process improvements.
Ability to work collaboratively within the team or across the organization at different levels.
Ability to train and or mentor junior staff members.
Ability to present findings/recommendations/problems/solutions to management in a clear and concise manner.
