Job Title Accountant

We seek an Accountant for our Biller Solutions team. This role can be located in Glastonbury, CT OR Alpharetta, GA.
The Biller Solutions division of Fiserv, a Fortune 500 company, offers a portfolio of industry-leading billing and payments products including bill presentment and payment, eBill distribution, and Walk-In payments. These products are used by thousands of financial institutions and direct billers, including most of the top institutions in the country. Fiserv is on an aggressive path to define the next generation digital billing and payments experience, with a mission to deliver payment experiences when and where consumers want to consume them.
What does a Biller Solutions Accountant do?
• Monthly general ledger close, revenue recognition analysis, preparation of journal entries, and balance sheet account reconciliations
• Prepares and posts journal entries across a broad area of balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Reviews journal entries and financial reports for accuracy
• Works closely with other departments to ensure compliance with GAAP and Fiserv policies
• Maintains SOX internal control procedures and documentation
• Assists with internal and external audits
• Learns responsibilities of others within the accounting team
• Additional projects will be assigned that require the ability to research, analyze data, and generate appropriate accounting documents and support within a SAP environment
• Travel less than 10%
What do you need for this opportunity?
• Bachelor Degree in Accounting or equivalent business degree
• Strong understanding of accounting theory.
• Basic level knowledge of all accounting functions and related internal controls, including accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and willingness to research and resolve accounting application issues;
• Solid Microsoft Excel skills a must;
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to research and reconcile difficult accounts;
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize deliverables;
• Great attention to detail;
• Ability to meet assigned deadlines;
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external customers.
It would great if you also have:
• Corporate Accounting /General Ledger experience preferred
• Prior experience working with SAP or other ERP business systems preferred
• CPA certification is a plus or on track to complete
