Job Description
Currently, we are seeking a talented Lead Accounting Specialist to join our Retirement Solutions Division. The Retirement Solutions Division (RSD) leverages its strengths in product development, technology, service and risk management to create retirement solutions for individuals, families, and businesses. With the guidance of financial professionals, customers have access to an array of annuities and mutual funds designed to help grow assets and to provide retirement income for financial independence.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Using business and accounting knowledge, prepares and records general ledger journal entries; performs reconciliation of daily contract-related payments/withholdings submitted by RSD Operations; perform analysis and timely resolution of discrepancies. Working collaboratively with the Accounting team and independently, perform monthly close procedures under tight deadlines. Responsible for auditing of divisional expense reports for RSD travelers and reimbursements to Broker-Dealers; ensuring accuracy and compliance with FINRA and company policies. Building strong customer relationships, this position serves as liaison between Accounting, Wholesalers/Broker-Dealers, and other departments (i.e.: Operations, Treasury) by assisting on all contract-related and FINRA expense inquiries. Understand the downstream effects of our processes, identify areas for process improvement and recommend innovative solutions to problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Audit divisional expense reports in Concur and reimbursements to Broker-Dealers in BRMS; ensuring accuracy and compliance with FINRA and company policies.
• Responsible for processing daily contract-related benefit payouts via manual checks/wires requests submitted by RSD Operations.
• Accountable for daily reconciliation of suspense accounts; maintaining a consistent understanding and providing explanation of outstanding items at any time to the team and/or management; ensure timely resolution on discrepancies, escalating concerns to management when necessary.
• Using business and industry knowledge, understand the impact that accounting transactions have on other departments and processes. Effectively identify inefficiencies and recommend innovative solutions.
• Prepare and record daily journal entries as required.
• Maintaining a high-level of customer service, represents Accounting department as main point of contact for inquiries from RSD Operations, Treasury, and RSD wholesalers & employees.
• Providing support to other team members when necessary.

• Works well in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Proficient in MS Office and knowledge of PeopleSoft.
• 7+ years’ experience, Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related.
