Description
The Corporate Accounting & Reporting team oversees accounting and financial reporting for the company’s operations in United States, Chile, Costa Rica and Canada. This team is instrumental in driving and supporting company-wide initiatives for the North America region and is highly committed to delivering quality accounting support for the region
• Conduct month end close involving complex journal entries, investigation of transactions, and billing / other adjustments.
• Perform monthly reconciliations on complex ledger accounts. Research variances and record adjustments to correct account balances.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies through accruals and billing adjustments and have a strong understanding of revenue process and systems (billing, AR and GL).
• Review contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition and royalties treatment and assist in setting up contracts utilizing multiple systems and working with various businesses.
• Manage intercompany accounts and reallocations between businesses.
• Research and document balance sheet fluctuations for various periods. Assist in preparation of reporting packages.
• Compile information, analyse and calculate revenue-related accruals and deferrals. Investigate and resolve reconciling items.
• Initiate, review and implement process improvements to enhance internal customer service and operational efficiencies. Actively participate in finance transformation activities, accounting automation and process improvements, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the underlying accounting records.
• Implement and participate in technical revenue recognition and IFRS processes and projects.
• Work with external auditors during mid-year reviews and year-end audits to ensure full cooperation from finance and accounting staff and compliance with all qualified requests. Assist in proving audit supporting documentation and answering inquiries.
• Participate and lead ad-hoc projects as needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from a US accredited college
• CPA or MBA preferred but not required
• Minimum of 5 years related work experience in a non-manufacturing environment
• Strong technical knowledge of GAAP/IFRS with emphasis on Revenue
• Strong knowledge of Excel, Oracle, Access and Microsoft Office
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Very strong oral and written communications skills
• Strong understanding of team concepts and role relationships
• Strong organizational skills
