Position Summary
The Senior Director, International Financial Institution Engagement will work with a cross-functional global team and a wide range of public authorities and thought leaders to advance pro-innovation policies at the global level. Reporting to the Vice President, Global Government Relations Strategy, the Senior Director will develop and implement multi-year plans for shaping the payment policy and investment agendas of key international financial institutions and multilateral development banks. In addition, the Senior Director will manage external consultants and build coalitions to support sustainable, inclusive and secure payment innovation.
The successful candidate will be a proven leader with advanced knowledge of the retail payments industry and Visa’s products, services, and global strategy. To succeed in this role, the Senior Director must possess strong relationships with senior international trade and development policymakers, extraordinary organizational and writing skills, and the ability to build internal consensus among a broad range of internal and external constituencies. The ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently, efficiently generate high-quality deliverables for C-level executives, and navigate complex business and regulatory dynamics are critical success factors for this role. The Senior Director will facilitate rapid knowledge sharing and accurately translate policy and regulatory information into actionable business intelligence. In addition to these day-to-day responsibilities, the Senior Director will have opportunities to contribute to the development of global and regional government relations strategies and Visa thought leadership.
The Senior Director will be part of a matrix organization responsible for a wide array of stakeholder engagement initiatives. In many cases, the Vice President will draw upon the support and expertise of professionals from different functional disciplines and geographies.
Qualifications
This dynamic role offers a unique opportunity for someone with special talents to contribute, grow, and excel. The successful candidate will have:
• Advanced degree in government, international development, public administration, or related discipline
• Minimum 12 years of professional experience at the intersection of business, government and international policy
• At least three years of payments industry experience and/or exposure to international payment card policy and regulation
• Advanced knowledge of international financial institutions, multilateral development banks, the United Nations system
• Strong network of contacts with non-government organizations, academics, and industry associations
• Ability to create and manage strategic partnerships
• Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills honed through several years of producing high-quality documents and presentations for C-Level executives on tight deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Proven track record of consistently productive collaboration with diverse colleagues in a matrixed work environment
• Basic knowledge of corporate finance and the ability to develop and execute budgets on an annual cycle
• Demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate and political levels
• Strong judgment/decision-making skills and political acumen
• Ability and willingness to work across multiple time zones, countries and cultures
• Intellectual curiosity, willingness to challenge conventional wisdom, and innovate without losing sight of practical deliverables
