International Tax Managing Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
Grant Thornton’s core business is audit, tax and advisory services. Grant Thornton’s responsive, partner-led Tax service teams help dynamic companies navigate complexity and grow with insightful, practical tax advice. In addition to tax professionals in our offices across the United States, our Washington National Tax Office provides deep technical knowledge and responsive support in local, state, federal and international tax. Our tax services include: compliance, human capital services, federal tax services, international tax services, state and local tax services, private wealth services, tax reporting and advisory, partnership taxation, not-for-profit tax, and mergers & acquisition tax services.
The International Tax Managing Director is responsible for the delivery of a full range of international tax services to clients in various industries including Financial Services, Consumer and Industrial Products, Technology, and Professional Services. In addition, the International Tax Partner is responsible for marketing, selling, designing, and implementing tax-planning strategies for an International Accounting Firm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with business owners and CEO’s of current and potential clients.
• Effectively identify and manage existing client relationships to enhance client satisfaction
• Identify and capitalize on opportunities to sell tax services to existing and potential clients.
• Effectively manage the fundamentals (i.e., realization, utilization, leverage, accounts receivable, expenses).
• Successfully integrate industry initiatives with local office strategy.
• Provide technical expertise in the areas of international taxation, regulations, market practices, trends, economic factors, and risk.
• Plan and execute business process control reviews, internal audits, systems reviews, and other service offerings.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a Master’s in Taxation; CPA, JD, or LLM in Taxation required.
• At least ten years of progressive federal tax consulting/compliance experience in public accounting (or a combination of corporate/public accounting experience).
• Currently or recently an International Tax Partner with a Big 4 accounting firm or global law firm.
• Experience in a medium- to large-sized public, regional, or national accounting firm.
• Financial, operational, and systems audit experience, as well as experience in business process control reviews is necessary, along with ACL and/or SAS.
• Demonstrated new business development experience.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities.
• Strong leadership, recruiting, training, coaching and mentoring skills, decision-making, problem-solving, client service, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• High level of technical expertise in the full range of international taxation areas including Foreign Tax Credit, global tax minimization, Subpart F, Section 367. Inbound and Outbound, multinational tax accruals, and FAS 109 issues.
• Majority of experience should be developing business with domestic corporate clients in the middle market.
• Ability to manage and develop staff in a highly interactive team environment.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Professional services industry or public accounting firm experience is preferred.
• Experience in and/or familiarity with the local marketplace a plus.
• Hands-on, advanced experience using tax technology.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
• Ability to work additional hours and travel to various client sites as needed.
