Job Description
This position is responsible for analyzing the most complex loans and those loans whose repayment is dependent upon projected results. This position reviews business and personal financial statements and tax returns to determine the creditworthiness of potential borrowers and their guarantors. In addition, this position works closely with loan officers and occasionally with customers to ensure that all of the facts concerning loan requests and the borrower’s financial condition are accurately stated.
Principal Responsibilities:
Analyzes a variety of highly complex business and financial statements including income statements and balance sheets to determine loan structure, collateral, business and personal global debt service ability, and cash flow. Recommends approval or rejection of loan request to management.
Independently prepares loan presentations, accurate financial spreads and clear, concise and comprehensive written loan approval memos.
Utilizes comprehensive understanding of all aspects of credit scoring software and personal and business credit reports to support the underwriting process.
Underwrites the business credit line product using credit scoring and traditional analysis. Works directly with internal and external customers to communicate information regarding this product.
Develops and maintains extensive knowledge of a wide variety of financial statements and documents, credit analysis, products offered, internal policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
Plays a key role in special projects and initiatives as requested.
Acts as a resource to Small Business Underwriters. Participates in the formal training and development of junior staff members.
Adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies.
Job Requirements
College degree or equivalent work experience required.
2-5 years relevant experience.
Additional Job Requirements:
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills are needed to communicate in a clear and concise manner with internal and external customers.
Excellent PC skills including word processing, spreadsheet and internal loan and deposit systems.
Excellent analytical skills are needed to evaluate financial and credit documents.
Extensive knowledge of financial statements and documents, credit analysis, products offered, internal policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
Ability to share knowledge and skills and participate in the training of junior staff members.
Must possess strong objective decision making ability and the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced environment to meet internal and external needs.
