We are currently seeking a Public Relations Associate to help us tell the Vanguard story – and what it means to clients.
The PR Associate will coordinate and execute on specific public relations activities, including writing press materials, developing corporate positioning, researching media trends, identifying pitch opportunities, and monitoring media and social coverage. Additionally, to develop into a press spokesperson for Vanguard.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assists in media planning and execution of PR initiatives and press engagements.
• Identifies pitch candidates, researches reporters, publications, and other traditional and non-traditional media outlets, develops competitive press analyses, and creates press and media activity roundups.
• Researches, writes, and assists with press releases and other communication materials (pitches, statements, Q&As, fact sheets, bylined articles, op-ed pieces, tweets, CrewNet articles, etc.) that are professional, effective, and accurate.
• Develops and maintains effective, strong, collaborative relationships with PR colleagues and internal and external information resources.
• Works with other communications groups, including Marketing, Corporate Communications, Social Media, and business communications teams, to create materials and coordinate consistent communications.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate Should Possess:
• An undergraduate degree in journalism or PR or an equivalent combination of training and experience preferred. Graduate degree in communications or business a plus.
• Minimum of three years public relations experience.
• Financial services experience a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively and independently on multiple projects.
• Demonstrated ability to explain complex subject matter in plain English.
• Knowledge of financial services industry, particularly mutual fund investing and financial markets.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with various departments and levels of management including senior executives.
• Ability to write quickly and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to "cover" corporate events outside usual business hours.
Additional information:
• Occasional travel may be required.
