Job Description
The VP, Finance - NA Planning & Analysis will be the finance leader for the North America Region Planning & Analysis function. This leader will be responsible for coordinating all planning, forecasting, reporting, and business analysis for North America to support the management of the business.
This position will oversee a team dedicated to identifying financial trends and defining critical decisions to ensure the effective strategic management of the business and delivery of North America financial performance. This role will be responsible for driving an efficient and accurate Planning process, from detailed annual budgets, to mid-year Forecast, and ongoing risk & opportunity analysis. This role will also coordinate closely with the Controllership to manage the monthly close and conduct monthly & quarterly results analysis of business performance, as well as supporting the development of insightful Monthly Business Reviews of North America for Visa executive management. The position will lead ad hoc business analysis and support the ongoing management of key initiatives and investments. The position will also be responsible for enacting a proactive, collaborative partnership between Finance and business teams, deeply embedding the Finance function into the business, assisting and driving financial management of their areas.
In addition to directly supporting the North America business, this position will be responsible for interfacing with numerous other groups within the company to coordinate financial management including Corporate Finance, Controllership, and finance groups for central functions that support NA such as CSS, Merchant, and Corporate Functions. It will also coordinate closely with other parts of NA Finance as they manage Canada, Product, Marketing, and the deal management process to understand and incorporate their work into the broader financial management program for North America. This role will have significant exposure and be the go-to finance leader for the CFO of North America, the Group Executive for North America, and the NA management team.
The VP, Finance NA Planning & Analysis will have significant experience in leading global financial services establishing strong business and financial planning processes, budgeting, strategic frameworks and driving critical financial decisions; assessing corporate model changes and timely financial and management reporting. Responsibilities include forecasting, budgeting, financial and scenario planning through development of decision frameworks and methodologies, plus a history of well-informed judgment around technical and business investment opportunities. Candidates will have experience collaborating with business leaders as well as evaluating the business economics for recommendation and allocation of capital. This position has oversight of financial planning, reporting and analysis, cost allocation, budgeting and forecasting, and investment management.
The role will manage a team and be required interact and influence others via a matrix structure and functional Finance staff members. The successful candidate will need to have the ability to work across a matrix business organizational structure and closely liaison with Finance and Operations teams.
Qualifications
Financial Leadership
• Ability to handle projects with multiple workstreams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of product business problems
• Ability to structure, manage, and coordinate complex cross-enterprise projects and processes with multiple stakeholders
• Drives an efficient, effective and comprehensive process for developing financial plans and analysis that links to the strategic objectives
• Drives profitable growth by improving visibility, forecasting, consolidation and analysis of results and key metrics while advising senior management on insights and recommended actions
• Creates effective performance metrics, or management, systems to drive accountability and ownership within the corporate departments and business units
• Responsible for preparation and analysis of annual budget and monthly/quarterly forecasts and variances
• Coordinates expense budgeting and loss budgeting with team leaders
• Provides budget information and analysis to senior management and stakeholders
• Ensures the highest level of engagement, effectiveness and continued skill development of the Finance team
• Sets performance metrics that can be regularly tracked to measure progress
Professional
• MBA or relevant graduate degree from top-tier institution or similar academic experience
• 15+ years of experience within the Finance function or with relevant experience in strategy consulting, investment banking, or other analytical business support functions
• Global or multi-national business experience strongly preferred
• Strong customer focus combined with an in-depth understanding of the trends affecting the financial services, payments and ecommerce world
• Superior analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business environment
• Advanced level of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint required

• Strong executive presence and ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to senior executives and external business partners
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility as a "peer"

• Experience presenting complex materials in a succinct manner to the most senior executives to drive effective decision making.

• Experience working with financial indicators to measure business performance including P&L responsibility and accurately forecasting sources of cost, revenue and risk with an ability to summarize business and financial data in a useful manner for planning and decision-making
• Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives across a breadth of stakeholders
Team Leadership
• 8+ years' experience in leading and managing a globally matrixed team
• Commitment to continuous training and improvement of employees throughout the finance function
• Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible, with excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capabilities
• Demonstrated ability to articulate and drive a team towards a strategic vision
