Position Description
As a Director within RSM’s national ERP, Analytics and Continuity Risk practice, the Director in Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Planning, has overall leadership responsibility for business development, requirements identification, program initiation and build-out, risk management strategy and implementation, governance, and testing efforts as they are aligned with client BCM objectives. This individual will work with both internal (RSM) and external (client) teams to ensure the effective delivery of program-level assessments, execution of Business Impact Analyses (BIAs), implementation of risk-mitigation controls, plan development efforts, and facilitation of BC/DR exercises.
Responsibilities
• Engages with RSM clients to help define specific BC/DR goals based on financial, regulatory, and/or operational objectives
• Provides education and awareness to RSM clients and internal teams on various aspects of BCM, including; requirements identification, planning & documentation procedures, and governance processes
• Works to ensure capability alignment and consistency between client Business Continuity Planning ( people/process) and Disaster Recovery (technology) programs, in terms of Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs)
• Overall responsibility for all aspects of RSM BCP engagements, including project initiation, staffing, delivery and client satisfaction
• Direct and indirect leadership responsibility for RSM BCP delivery personnel, including scheduling, resource management, and productivity
• Leveraging and training of consultants from other parts of the RSM organization, e.g. BAs, technology SMEs, financial planners, etc
• Assist BDMs in the identification, scoping, and proposal/SOW development for qualified opportunities
• Manage RFI/RFQ/RFP response efforts as required, in order to ensure relevant and comprehensive responses are properly communicated
• Ability to position, conduct, and present results for various types of BCM assessments in an effort to highlight deficiencies and develop strategic roadmaps for remediation activities
• Maintain thorough understanding of current BCM methodologies and practices
• Provide thought leadership by articulating both strategic and tactical initiatives to client SMEs and Senior/Executive Management.
Technical Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Emergency Management, Disaster Management/Response or a related field
• 10 or more years of Business Continuity Planning experience, either as a consultant and/or as an internal BC/DR planner
• Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Master Business Continuity Professional (ABCP), or comparable credentials
• Ability to perform and present high-level financial and cost analyses, such as TCO, ROI, cost-benefit comparisons, etc.
• Familiarity with established business continuity planning standards, such as those established by Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII), FFIEC, etc.
• Experience with all phases of the business continuity planning process, including policy creation, business impact analysis (BIA), plan development, BCP testing, etc.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and influence personnel within all levels of an organization
• Ability to travel 25% of the time or more, accommodating significant fluctuations in such requirements.

• Outstanding documentation and communication capabilities
• Excellent presentation skills, both in leading meetings and presenting to groups, and also in detail-oriented construction of supporting materials and decks
• Experience performing audits of information technology application and/or general controls, beyond disaster recovery and business continuity planning, or experience performing audits of financial controls
• Prior involvement in marketing and business development efforts, primarily focused on promoting business continuity planning consulting services to both new/prospective and existing clients
