Position Description
Reporting to the Senior Director of Cyber Security Technology, the Cyber Security Technology (CST) Director position is a member of the Information Protection and Risk Management (IPRM) team and is responsible for identifying, engineering, and implementing technical solutions required to mitigate cyber security risk for Ally. This role specializes in end user and data security engineering but works closely with other engineering functions and the project management team. The cyber security operations teams are the primary customer, and this position must closely coordinate their needs and requirements.
Job Responsibilities
Under direction from the Senior Director and in line with stated strategic objectives, the Cyber Security Technology Director will engage key cyber security technology customers and gather requirements. The CST Director will then conduct industry research, explore the products available on the market to meet the requirements, OR devise a plan to build a solution internally. The CST Director will assign an appropriate engineer from within their team and propose business cases to obtain project funding. The CST Director will supervise the team to ensure that the projects are successfully implemented on time and on budget. The CST Director will also be responsible for ongoing incremental engineering required to continuously achieve the best coverage and operation of the technology. Some (but not all) of the technology sets the role will be involved with are as follows:
• Data Security Engineering
◦ Database access firewalls
◦ Data discovery and classification tools
• End User Security Engineering
◦ Anti-virus and host intrusion prevention packages
◦ Next generation malware detection
◦ Malware sandboxing technologies
◦ Email security, anti-SPAM, and DMARC
Qualifications
• Minimum of four years information security specific experience.
• Specific experience in engineering cyber security technology or tangential information technology.
• Bachelor's degree in information systems or relevant field of study heavily preferred.
• CISSP, CISM or CISA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of current cyber security threats and techniques, as well as a dedicated and self-driven desire to research current cyber security products.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a strong attention to detail.
• A strong customer/client focus with ability to manage expectations appropriately and provide superior customer/client experience and build long-term relationships.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, with an ability to make independent decisions when appropriate.
• Experience gathering and facilitating the development of business and system requirements within a broader project team.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Ability to motivate and lead people, and help them develop as cyber security professionals.
• Ability to manage small to medium-sized teams, both direct and matrixed.
• Strong administrative, coordination and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn and use business productivity and management software.
• Must be willing to work after-hours and weekends when technical issues arise which require immediate resolution.
