Description
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the firm’s executive management team and reports to the Chair of the Finance Committee. The CFO is responsible for managing the financial strategies and oversees all financial aspects of the firm.
Major Responsibilities
• Develop relationships with firm leaders (e.g. chairman, managing partner, office managing partners, service line leaders and industry group leaders) to evaluate new opportunities, challenge current strategies, maximize revenues, and appropriate manage costs.
• Interpret and analyze financial statements, business development reports, and other data, providing executive analysis to the Finance Committee, Board and firm leaders.
• Determine accounting and tax implications for all material business decisions.
• Oversee proforma financial analysis for geographic expansion opportunities and assist with financial strategies related to these opportunities.
• Manage the procurement process including negotiation of agreements and identifying areas of risk. This includes, but is not limited to, lease agreements, vendor contracts, and executive compensation agreements.
• Provide and implement strategy on budget process, capital expenditure planning, and forecasting needs.
• Manage firm insurance programs – professional liability, property and casualty, employment liability, health insurance (in partnership with Human Resources), etc.
• Oversee record-keeping and internal controls compliance.
• Comply with request for external audits or internal inspections.
• Oversee firm treasury function and serve as primary contact relationship for finance related vendors.
• Lead and oversee Financial Management Department
◦ Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting
◦ Evaluate processes to improve efficiency
◦ Evaluate performance and potential of each team member and assist with their career development
• Serve as 401k Plan Administrator and Trustee
• All other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
Preferred Experience/Background/Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree.
• Ten or more years of applicable experience.
• CPA designation (required).
• Public accounting experience (preferred).
• Knowledge and understanding of the economics of a professional services firm.
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Knowledge of financial and accounting reporting systems.
• High level of financial analytical skills and data analysis.
• Ability to research technical issues and document results.
• Knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting techniques, rolling budgets and profitability analysis.
• Superior presentations skills for both small and large audiences.
• Ability to supervise, coach, and develop individuals and teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint required).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Superior project management skills.
• Thoroughness in process implementation.
• Strict adherence to professional ethics.
Working Conditions
• The typical office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Ability to work extra hours as determined by the workload and client expectations.
• Travel for this position will be approximately 5% of the year.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to move throughout office.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 10-30 pounds.
• Ability to speak English to communicate with clients, team members, etc.
