Job Description
The Role
The LAC Senior Director of Risk Strategy, Enterprise Risk Management & Operations will be responsible for three key areas: 1) Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to tailor Visa’s global risk strategy and establish related results anchored goals that meet the needs of our unique business environment, 2) Guiding the execution of Enterprise Risk Management and Product & Innovation Risk functions for the Region, including conducting New Business Assessment Initiatives (NBIAs) and 3) Executing our LAC Risk events and programs to educate participants on payment risk trends and best practices, including via Risk events, training sessions, seminars and webinars. The successful candidate will be a catalyst for transforming Visa’s risk strategy and championing security strategic pillar into an easy to understand and executable plan across our LAC markets in collaboration with internal business partners and clients. The position reports into Visa’s LAC Regional Risk Officer (RRO).
With new players entering the payments ecosystem, constant innovation and increasing government attention, the payment industry is becoming highly complex. Therefore, a critical objective for this leader will be to evolve our LAC risk strategy as new developments arise, advance our champion security initiatives throughout the region, track success metrics and ensure smooth and consistent execution of the strategy across all LAC markets. The successful candidate will be an exceptional leader with a deep understanding of the payments industry and a strong team player with the ability to organize and mobilize cross-functional teams, partners and external stakeholders. This individual will be a results-oriented, highly motivated leader who will function well within a global, matrix organization.
Key Accountabilities
The Senior Director of LAC Risk Strategy, ERM & Operations will assist the Regional Risk Offer to build a more strategic, dynamic and effective LAC Risk organization. Specifically she/he will:
1. Evolve and implement Visa’s LAC Risk Strategy in collaboration with internal and external partners
◦ Establish clear Risk goals and success measures for each LAC market or sub-region in conjunction with LAC Heads of Risk and Risk Managers and functional risk program owners
◦ Drive and maintain internal strategic initiatives such as Country Risk Plans to ensure that all risk activities are aligned with and actively support the business
◦ Manage our LAC Risk Scorecard as a key means to track progress against financial, human resource and operational goal metrics and to keep stakeholders engaged on key LAC Risk goals
◦ Communicate progress on LAC Risk initiatives via key in/external sessions, including via LAC Risk MONTHLY BUSINESS REVIEWs, LAC QUATERLY BUSINESS REVIEWs, LAC Risk Executive Council meetings, internal bi-weekly reports and regular client communications
◦ Guide teams in sharing risk intelligence with our internal business partners and clients
2. Execute Visa LAC’s Enterprise Risk Management and New Business Initiative Assessments (NBIA)
◦ Produce Visa LAC’s Top Risk Report and update it on a quarterly basis with input and validation from our internal business partners, including Sales, Product, MSS and other corporate functions
◦ Communicate Visa LAC’s Top Risk Report and tailored risk appetite, framework, and taxonomy across the business and other control functions
◦ Coordinate the execution of NBIAs for Visa LAC in conjunction with assigned business owners
◦ Partner with other internal teams to conduct deep-dives on specific risk issues facing our business and explore unique options and approaches to avoid, mitigate or transfer risks
◦ Utilize internal and external data sources and intelligence to illustrate key risks facing our business and communicate this information to internal partners and external stakeholders
◦ Guide Visa LAC Risk Managers in conducting and updating Country/Sub-Region Risk Assessments
◦ Advise Risk and other teams in sharing risk intelligence that will influence our business decisions
3. Manage our LAC Risk communications strategy and coordinate events and programs to educate participants on payment risk trends and best practices via Risk events, seminars and webinars
◦ Coordinate and create the foundational framework for LAC Risk communications and events
◦ Partner with our Audit, Risk and Public Policy team, Risk Managers and internal partners in coordinating events, webinars and training session for our clients on payment risk topics
◦ Execute the strategic deployment of risk initiatives and resources by working cross-functionally with Risk Manager and key internal stakeholders
◦ Ensure that LAC Risk is connected to all parts of the enterprise and drive cross-functional alignment to promote a strong culture of partnership
◦ Coordinate with global, regional and country Risk teams to leverage expertise and best practices
◦ Create dynamic narratives that highlight Visa unique risk capabilities
◦ Produce regular communications to keep clients and stakeholders appraised on key payment risk developments and new rules, programs and initiatives to address them
Qualifications
Candidate Profile
Ideal Experience, Exposure & Education
◦ 15+ years of payment experience, specifically in leadership, strategy or enterprise risk management and execution roles with a track record of increasing levels of responsibility and accomplishments
◦ Demonstrated success in setting and successfully implementing a strategy for corporate functions
◦ Strong ability to communicate, collaborate and influence within a global, matrix organization
◦ Deep knowledge of the payments industry and the major trends affecting our stakeholders, including regulatory, market environment, competitive landscape, and technology
◦ Established reputation for building peer like relationships with senior leaders in a large, complex organizations, and being able to communicate and influence other teams
◦ Professional track record of responsibility for large, complex programs and guiding cross functional teams to complete these programs with a high level of effectiveness
◦ Ability to manage multiple initiatives at once in a fast paced entrepreneurial environment, while demonstrating grace under pressure and comfort with problem solving ambiguity
◦ Understanding of business strategy, clients and their evolving risk management requirements
◦ Intellectual curiosity with the ability to quickly grasp the payments business, culture and style
◦ Solid general management background, with proven track record in strategic thinking, financial planning, risk management, relationship building and project leadership
◦ Proven record of leading and motivating a cross functional teams of diverse SMEs
◦ Fluent in spoken and written English and Spanish and/or Portuguese
