Position Summary
We are searching for a Tax Shareholder with a focus on Quality Control and Risk Management. This person will serve as a champion in the evolution of our firm standards and lead our Professional Practice Group in supporting the progressive and innovative advancement of our Tax Services practice.
The ideal candidate should possess a deep tax technical background and a risk management mindset with a focus on transactional skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadline, a strong work ethic, sound business judgment, and effective communication and organizational skills. He or she must work comfortably both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
• Update and communicate firm tax policies & ensure compliance
• Coordinate and Monitor Processes Around Client Acceptance and Continuance
• Manage the annual process to update Tax engagement letter templates including coordination with the relevant Shareholders and other stakeholders
• Facilitate responses and action around risk items/claims
• Develop and monitor systems involving root cause analysis on material risk items/claims
• Serve as a point of consultation for Tax professionals with questions regarding technical and administrative matters
• Develop and manage all aspects of a structured Internal Quality Review process, including management of resources
• Coordinate with Appropriate Individuals on firm positions on complex technical tax matters
• Consult and coordinate concurring reviews and utilization of subject matter experts
• Coordinate with and provide tax technical expertise to internal and external Counsel regarding claims or other legal matters involving professional tax services
• Coordinate research and analysis of highly technical tax matters as they arise
Qualifications:
• CPA and/or JD required; MT or LLM in Taxation preferred;
• Strong technical background and tax research skills;
• Familiarity with Circular 230, AICPA Statements on Standards for Tax Services and other AICPA and professional guidelines and rules;
• Demonstrated success in a leadership role;
• Excellent analytical, organizational, writing, and project management skills;
• Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to manage and develop staff in a highly interactive team environment;
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities;
• Ability to travel to firm offices and attend relevant tax practice meetings;
• Ability to confidently communicate with all levels of professionals;
• Outstanding professional judgment with regard to sensitive or confidential matters.
