Position Summary
The Chief Innovation and Automation Officeris an integral part of the overall Firm and bridges all practice areas. This individual identifies solutions that meet business needs from process re-design and automation to implementing new technologies. He/she develops ideas on own in addition to exploring and implementing ideas generated by others. He/she prioritizes ideas and solutions for greatest impact to the organization and client base. This role analyzes existing practices to isolate areas ripe for improvement or enhancement; encourages creative thinking in employees; and finds ways to nurture innovative thinking across all areas of the organization.
Responsibilities
• Brainstorms with teams to discover new solutions and approaches to old problems.
• Works with an Innovation Steering Committee to recognize promising ideas and find ways to introduce them into the Firm’s future plans - and discard ideas that are ineffective or beyond the scope of the company’s mission or abilities to develop.
• Strategizes with product development teams to transform general ideas into workable solutions.
• Provides direction and oversight to project teams to design and implement solutions that meet applicable business requirements.
• Drives progress on all solutions in development; maintains the Firm’s existing inventory of projects.
• Develops methodologies to assess the viability or success of innovation initiatives.
• Calculates ROI on all projects through extensive data analysis and input from key stakeholders.
• Measures process improvement benefits after changes are implemented.
• Determines how systems should work and how changes will impact other areas.
• Simultaneously works with and supervises employees/volunteers working on innovation projects.
• Identifies measures or indicators of systems’ performance and actions needed to improve or correct performance relative to desired outcomes.
• Examines how to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data, and blockchain technology to benefit the Firm’s ability to deliver the highest quality services to clients.
• Monitors research and development of other organizations through industry and technology publications, conferences, seminars and focus groups to spot trends in innovation and supplement research findings for the accounting industry.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Master’s degree in a related field
• 4 years of demonstrated expertise in project management and leading teams
• Background in research and development, product development or strategy
• 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in organizational process improvement, change management, innovation or related area
• Thorough understanding of data analytics, AI, big data and blockchain technology
• Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to express complex technology concepts in a clear, concise manner.
• Knowledge of accounting industry a plus
• Six Sigma Certification a plus
• Must be able to travel 25% to offsite conferences, research locations, etc.
