Great American's Trucking Division offers a nationwide program that specializes in insuring the unique exposure of the For Hire Trucker. Our program focuses on the owner operator and small fleet markets, and we’re proud to serve the long haul trucking industry with insurance products and services dedicated to the success of the Owner-Operator.
The Trucking Division is currently searching for a Product Analyst / Senior Product Analyst. The product specialist will identify and analyze emerging issues, regulatory changes and competitive market developments and create action plans to implement and communicate changes. This individual will serve as a product support contact for the Trucking Division, assisting in the development of underwriting guidelines, manuals, procedures and training materials.
Job title and grade will depend on the successful applicant’s level of experience.
Responsibilities
• Accountable for product premium volume growth and profitability results within assigned product lines.
• Will interact with Claims, Underwriting, Sales/Marketing, and provide customer service support (i.e. agents, regulators and industry groups).
• Leads or participates in business unit, compliance, claims, agency, program reviews and audits (i.e. compliance audits, rate/pricing reviews, and agency reviews.)
• Recommends action plans and strategic direction for functional areas and maintains alignment with other product managers to ensure successful development of entire product line.
• Maintains the review, approval and implementation of assigned filings and ensures compliance with statutory requirements.
• Monitors product performance.
• Provides recommendations of product and rate revisions, underwriting guidelines, manuals, and procedures.
• Gathers and analyzes data from various sources specific to product.
• Provides summary analysis, makes recommendations and communicates to business units.
• Leads in the development of training and communication materials and providing training as necessary on product / rate changes for staff, field, and agency personnel.
• Partners with the IT department on prioritization, implementation and enhancements of operational systems to ensure production capabilities are both effective and efficient.
• Accountable for the development of new and revised insurance products, policies, and other required forms to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company guidelines.
• Monitors pertinent insurance publications to determine impact on line of business. This may include:
• Identifying emerging coverage issues, state regulatory concerns and business unit needs.
• Developing action plans, implementing and communicating changes when appropriate.
• Resolves and/or assists with researching, documenting, communicating highly complex compliance related issues.
• Provides technical advice to lower level positions and other functional areas.
• May have responsibility for the performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding development, hiring, firing, performance management, pay increases, etc., for direct reports.
• May have accountability for ensuring that the unit meets budget and performance objectives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Five or more years of related Underwriting, claims or product experience
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business/work experience.
• The preferred candidate will possess a unique blend of entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and analytical capability, in addition to insurance business and product development experience.
• The right individual will excel at developing strong relationships with internal and external customers and possess the ability to manage their workload independently.
• Insurance designations are a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Expert knowledge of insurance products, including associated technical processes and concepts.
• Knowledge of project management concepts a plus.
• Above average analytical skills, attention to detail, and mathematical ability.
