Position Summary
Grant Thornton’s core business is audit, tax and advisory services. In short, we strive for a keen understanding of the client’s business in order to provide insightful and sound operational advice, recommend process improvement strategies, and offer suggestions to manage risk. Our professionals are thought leaders, providing personalized attention and quality service to our clients.
• Interact with internal and external clients, answer and respond to phone calls received by partners and managers.
• Use Microsoft Suite extensively to prepare professional documents including letters, memos, proposals, presentations, spreadsheets and billing statements.
• Understand the firm’s service lines, industries, and client engagement structure in order to work effectively with all levels of employees and clients.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of client personnel and client service personnel. Understand and anticipate client service needs and deliver high-quality service and results.
• Manage client-related engagement responsibilities, including client acceptance, client assignments, documentation, inventorying, indexing, filing, managing billable hours, etc.
• Capture client activities and opportunities in CRM system.
• Manage expenses and prepare reports for reimbursement for partner and managers.
• Collaborate with colleagues to recommend most cost-effective ways to complete tasks. Apply and share knowledge gained about work processes, resources, and structure and business of the firm/service line/functional group. Develop and demonstrate solid knowledge of firm-wide and service line specific tools, processes, and databases.
• Effectively use the firm’s core technology applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lync/Skype, SharePoint and Outlook. May also be considered a knowledge resource in one or more of these programs and be requested to train others.
• Other duties as assigned.
Grant Thornton’s responsive, partner-led Tax service teams help dynamic companies navigate complexity and grow with insightful, practical tax advice. In addition to tax professionals in our offices across the United States, our Washington National Tax Office provides deep technical knowledge and responsive support in local, state, federal and international tax. Our tax services include: compliance, human capital services, federal tax services, international tax services, state and local tax services, private wealth services, tax reporting and advisory, partnership taxation, not-for-profit tax, and mergers & acquisition tax services.
As a State and Local Tax (SALT) Paraprofessional, you will play a key role in supporting a team of SALT professionals and assist with project management. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded, performer with strong communication, organization and analytical abilities. You should be an independent, solution-oriented performer who is skilled and experienced in a supporting function.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors’ degree preferred.
• Advanced skill level with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
• Treats sensitive or confidential information with appropriate discretion.
• Ability to take initiative, be self-directed and results-oriented.
• Ability to work additional hours as needed.
• College degree preferred.
• Moderate level accounting or financial knowledge preferred.
