POSITION SUMMARY:
The Product Analyst supports the Senior Product Manager (Investments) in the course of their mandate to strategically drive key areas of the business as relates to Investments, including investment product development strategy; selection of investment vehicle types (funds, separate accounts, insurance, etc.,) for launch; pricing, fee structure and cost, competitive research and strategy; industry product research; investment product competitive positioning and distribution strategy (captive, 3rd party, etc.); outward positioning to gatekeepers, pensions, endowments, 401(k) providers and other institutional clients; and close coordination with sales and marketing on our lineup offerings and gaps.
The Product Analyst will participate in cross-functional work teams related to products and programs; engage in regular project management as needed; conduct frequent research via recognized industry databases; perform workflow analysis; etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ongoing research work in industry databases such as Morningstar, Lipper, Bloomberg, and other platforms as relevant
• Assist Senior Product Managers with research and administrative needs in development, roll-out and execution of strategic road maps and key initiatives;
• Collect and formally evaluate data on market trends, competitive firms and products, feedback from our advisor force, etc.;
◦ Special focus on developing deep and broad understanding of the product offerings and methodologies of firms across the mutual fund, insurance, annuity and related spaces;
• Oversee project management for key initiatives related to our Products and Programs, including thorough input into our project management system, collaborating with work teams, etc.;
• At times, serve as proxy to the Senior Product Manager in select work team meetings and scenarios;
• Assist with key administrative tasks related to the oversight of major products, programs and projects.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• May assist other Senior Product Managers with temporary projects or key cross-functional initiatives in the spaces of Enterprise initiatives, and Retirement & Advisory;
• May assist with major corporate initiatives as needed, based on strategic direction from our senior management team.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Statistics from an accredited four-year university preferred; other degrees also considered;
• Advanced degree and/or financial certifications a plus (MBA, CFA, etc.)
EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
• 4+ years experience in the financial serviced industry strongly preferred;
• Strong interest and understanding of capital markets, investment concepts, asset management and insurance industries preferred;
• Experience with industry databases and providers such as Morningstar, FactSet, Bloomberg, Barra, Lipper and others a major plus;
• Project management experience a plus;
• Excellent problem-solving, fact-finding, team collaboration and organizational skills a must.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate complex information and influence diverse internal constituents.
• Strong team ethic and dynamic.
