Ironshore Specialty Casualty is currently seeking a manager to fill a management role in their Specialty Casualty office located in Atlanta, GA.
The Atlanta office of Ironshore Specialty Casualty writes business for the Retail Distribution network on a regional basis. The lines of business are Lead Umbrella and Excess Liability with limits up to $50M. The business is written on both an Admitted and Excess and Surplus lines basis.
Under limited direction, manages the growth and profitability of assigned specialty excess product line(s) through marketing, underwriting and managing of products and services for complex risks. Risks may require special handling or unusual coverages. Requires a strong foundation in underwriting with a willingness to learn specialized underwriting concepts, practices, procedures and techniques including coverage issues, product lines, marketing, relevant systems, and competition in the market place. Must be able to manage an existing book of casualty renewals while producing new business. The current book is about $6M in premium with potential for growth.
Responsibilities:
• Evaluate opportunities to drive profitable growth across the product lines and with key regional retail producers;
• Expand the GWP base in Atlanta to sustain our presence in the region.
• Develop and execute marketing and operation plans to ensure broadest most efficient marketing of products and services;
• Personally establish and cultivate relationships with key producers to maintain a strong position in the marketplace;
• Generate and manage submission flow for office;
• Underwrite/negotiate larger accounts to a profit;
• Manage and develop staff ensuring effective talent development, employee relations as well as performance management.
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of underwriting experience in the Casualty field.
• Experience/existing relationships with retail brokers in Southeast Region.
• Ability to handle an existing book of excess casualty renewal accounts and produce new business is required
• Exceptional communication, problem solving and analytical skills are required
• Candidate should possess strong negotiation, management and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate strategic and marketing capabilities.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.
• Bachelor’s degree required
