Position Overview: Aegon Asset Management is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Senior Accountant within the Realty Accounting Team. This position will be responsible for real estate financial and operational reporting, account reconciliation, journal entries, and other work and projects within the organization.
Responsibilities:
• Monthly & quarterly real estate financial and operational reporting, including real estate statutory and IFRS reporting.
• Understand, record and reconcile complex transactions on Statutory, GAAP and IFRS bases of accounting, utilizing Yardi Voyager real estate system and the corporate general ledger system.
• Work with real estate asset management, property managers and Corporate Treasury to open, close and service property bank accounts.
• Account for fees received for Special Servicing and Asset Management assignments.
• Work with both internal and external sources to ensure proper reporting of financial data.
• Responsible to adhere to company’s framework of internal controls.
• Seek out potential areas of improvement (for example, workflow, automated processes).
• Develop nonstandard reports and statements. Prepare information for use by a higher authority; communicate methodology and areas of concern.
• Identify, research and recommend solution for areas of concern in relation to accounting information.
• Maintain current business procedure and process documentation.
• Participate in system testing for system upgrades, new systems, etc.
• Participate on project teams.
• Exhibit flexibility to perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Minimum 5 years’ experience, with a degree
• Proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Detail oriented, accurate, and analytical
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities daily
• Willing to accept new assignments and take on new projects
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment and individually
• Proficiency with MS Office, accounting general ledger and fixed asset accounting systems
Preferred Qualifications:
• Solid knowledge of accounting, with emphasis on real estate accounting and financial reporting preferred
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
• Willingness to take on new projects
• Strong organizational skills, effective judgment
Job and compensation levels depend upon an applicant’s qualifications including the extent of his/her relevant experience and other job related factors and will be determined by hiring supervisors/managers and HR.
