The Sales and Strategy Development Officer will guide the development of and provide leadership in the execution of the strategic sales plan for the Commercial Lending Team to drive increased results in loans, fees and deposits. This position will provide direction to the Commercial Department Heads and manage all business initiatives within the Bank’s New Jersey and New York footprint.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Direct the activities of the Commercial Sales Team in the development, implementation and execution of overall sales plans resulting in increased sales production of loans, fees and deposits.
• Spearhead the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes including the expansion of collateral materials and alignment of website messaging.
• Work successfully with cross-functional colleagues within the organization to achieve business objectives.
• Provide ongoing monitoring of the performance in attaining established business goals and analyze statistical results.
• Coach and mentor Commercial Banking Team on best practices regarding sales techniques, recommend corrective actions as necessary if business objectives are not met.
• Work with Chief Lending Officer to drive action oriented solutions in support of sales campaigns, share market insights relevant to the planning development and assignment of goals.
• Keep abreast of market, commercial trends, and competition and provide solutions for meeting goals with an external focus on clients and prospects.
• Travel to locations throughout the footprint to monitor the promotion and communication of marketing campaigns, sales priorities, responsibilities, and resources.
• Conduct ad hoc projects and assignments as directed by the Chief Lending Officer/SEVP.
• Represent the Bank in contacts with customers, prospects, trade associations, community and civic leaders; promoting the Banks image.
• Possess the knowledge of the Banks consumer and commercial deposits product line, wealth management and insurance products, cash management and commercial loans as well as external partner products and services. Ensure highest level of client service by exceeding client expectations and providing high value relationships.
Required Skills:
• Ability to prioritize, organize, delegate and follow up on assignments.
• Ability to supervise and motivate sales staff.
• Ability to clearly verbalize and present information to customers, prospects, staff, etc.
• Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups.
• Must have good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions either written or verbal.
• Basic PC Skills including Microsoft Products.
Required Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 15 years’ experience in demonstrated sales management.
• Valid Drivers’ License.
• MBA preferred.
