Position Summary
The Payroll Analyst plays an important role in the organization by performing a number of tasks related to the company’s Payroll functions. The role is responsible, under general to intermittent supervision, for utilizing advanced understanding of Payroll principles to successfully and accurately process company payroll, reconcile complex reports; as well as investigating all current payroll auditing reports.
Essential Functions
• Process company payroll on a semi-monthly basis. Audit payroll before and after it is submitted by pulling reports and using formulas to reconcile data. Review timecards for hourly employees to make sure there are no errors. Prepare final and manual checks for employees as needed.
• Utilize proficiency to adhere to all state and federal regulations for payroll processing including sick leave/leave of absences and kin care. Track sick time for leave of absences and partner with HR in maintaining accurate information in the system. Track vacation and sick hours to ensure that they are accurately reported on paystubs.
• Write and produce customized reports for various key stakeholders.
• Assist in review and process all Comp plans and make sure they are set up correctly in our system.
• Prepare payroll commissions and bonus payments submitted by the Finance department into the correct format so that it can be uploaded for payroll. Reconcile all payroll totals from the Finance department against what is unloaded in HRIS. Prepare YTD reconciliations of commissions and bonus payments each pay period.
• Audit employee personal information in the database. Keep detailed and organized payroll records. Prepare and submit payroll documents to the Finance department each pay period. Assist the Finance department with any reports needed for audits.
• Assist outside management for any reports requested.
• Ensure that payroll taxes that are not handled by third-party payroll company are reconciled and remitted to the proper tax agency on time. (Workers Comp, and SDI companies that we manually handle. Hawaii and New York.
• Continuously looks for improvements in operational processes and designs and implement those initiatives.
• Monitors our payroll email address and answers payroll questions or forwards emails to the appropriate employee to answer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred, along with a minimum of three years experience in-house Payroll processing and administration within a high volume, multi-state, corporate environment.
• CPP or PCP Certification, or PCP or CPP Certification in progress, preferred.
• Strong experience in payroll processing and systems application specifically in the area of Payroll Operations and employee data maintenance.
• Solid understanding of required compliance with legal, regulatory, and financial requirements governing functional tasks and activities.
• Strong experience with UltiPro Software preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Accounting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Highly organized and detail oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment required.
• Ability to multi-task and support day-to-day activities while managing customer inquiries.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio; e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.
