Overview
The Consumer Loan Specialist I will be responsible for conducting post origination activities on consumer loans. These activities will include, but are not limited to: ensure collateral exceptions are worked in a timely manner, execute early past due collection efforts, ensure balloon loans are renewed in a timely manner, and serve as a central point of contact for customer inquiries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assists customers with consumer loan renewal process: maintains knowledge of loan policies and procedures; takes applications and key applications into centralized loan system for underwriting; communicates decision to customer; and coordinate loan renewal closing.
• Ensure that post-closing collateral exceptions are resolved within the standard timing set by Bank management and policy.
• May present recommendations to management and exhibits a deep understanding of consumer credit.
• Adheres to loan policies and procedures with complete documented files to ensure satisfactory reviews from internal and external audits.
• Ability to meet individual goals and contribute in a team oriented environment to ensure departmental and Bank wide goals are met. Sets and achieves challenging goals without direct supervision and contributes to a positive team spirit.
• Ensures all departmental documents and activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures as applicable to this position, including completion of required compliance training.

• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memorandums.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, general business correspondence and/or journals or government regulations.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
• 1-2 plus years’ of related experience
• MS Office programs
