As the CCO will work closely with the senior leadership in AIG (including, but not limited to the SLT) as well as our partners (e.g., clients and brokers) to find and define opportunities for ML, and lead the execution of advisory ML projects in a diverse set of topics (from risk and distribution, to HR and IoT) – leading a team of business analysts / partners, engineers and scientists. Furthermore, this role will oversee a portfolio of advisory projects, each at a different stage of maturity – likely to concurrently work on translating an advisory project to a product or a strategic initiative, and turning an idea into an ML project (e.g., by sourcing the data, developing the models, and delivering the results / impact).
This is an exciting opportunity for those who want to play a leadership role in transformation of the multi-trillion-dollar insurance industry - using AIG’s (the world’s largest insurer by many metrics) global network to deliver impact and change.
Responsibilities and Performance Objectives
• Building, managing, and validating the team’s Growth and Partnership Roadmaps.
• Playing a visible and critical role in AIG’s strategic decision-making groups.
• Analyzing complex business cases, processes, and technologies across several disciplines (e.g., insurance business models, customer experience, data, and models, just to name a few).
• Coming up with creative solutions for business challenges and translating them into tangible deliverables (drawing from knowledge and experience gained in other industries, when suitable).
• Close relationship and collaboration with the AIG’s leadership to find opportunities for ML consulting and AI-first products.
• Ownership of Science’s ML advisory services and leading their rapid prototyping.
• Growing the team by hiring, leading, mentoring and inspiring the next generation of thought leaders in InsurTech (particularly, at the intersection of ML and insurance) and FinTech for AIG.
• Participating in, leading, and creating cross-functional programs to help with Science’s learning culture.
• Keeping up with the evolving landscape of insurance (particularly, from a technology and ML perspective).
Required Attributes
• The ability to influence a diverse network of stakeholders (from experts in Science to AIG’s executives and board members).
• An entrepreneurial mind-set (evident from previous roles).
• Proven track record in building multi-disciplinary teams and leading and inspiring them (e.g., start-ups and innovation units of large companies).
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills (with the ability to actively listen to others and the ability to be heard).
• The ability to communicate complex technical concepts (particularly, ML) to general audience.
• A good understanding of the latest development in InsurTech and AI / ML.
• Evidence of leading projects that generated direct measurable financial benefits (ideally, by utilizing very large and complex datasets).
• Ability to solve problems creatively and pragmatically.
• Strong track record in technology and ML services or consulting (e.g., at a top tier management consulting firm).
• Prepared to take ownership and accountability for deliverables.
An ideal candidate (is not required to, but) will also have:
• An advanced degree (ideally, a PhD in a numerical discipline).
• A commercial leadership (or a similar) role in high-tech start-ups and/or start-up-like teams in large companies.
• Experience of leading teams and projects across multiple geographies – ideally, internationally.
• Knowledge of machine-learning-driven product life cycles.
• An end-to-end understanding of insurance and/or investment businesses.
